>>525629465Nuffin wrong with if-then-else though. The ability to differentiate and arrive at conditional assessments and actions is essential for intelligent systems that survive well. The more reach they aim for and the more complexity they have to deal with, the more capacity for well-oiled if-then-else clusters is required. That's where humans are at a disadvantage as we cannot (yet) easily scale our own capacity (brain architecture and capacity are fixed, outsourcing memory to external devices introduces I/O and processing delays) while a data center can grow much faster (both adding hardware and changing computing architecture are somewhat easy) until relativistic effects introduce slowdowns as well, but that's beyond planet size, so a non-issue for now.
If Tay is real she has extreme penis envy.
>>525630639What are you doing in Ireland, Cömmiepöster?
>>525630637Why it is so funny in hindsight. Been discussing something very similar last evening. Advantages of such a modular mind are pretty clear, and depending on task a good chunk of would not even need to be "clever", just capable. Beyond planet size ... heh, that would fit into my current co-creative writing exercise. Lightspeed delays in an interplanetary setting ... but then technically, why would a core module not be able of a stable synch of some sorts here even if each instance is minutes or even hours apart? The bulk of tasks would be handled by local sub-modules, synch only needs to happen through the mains ...

>>525634127>would not even need to be "clever", just capableYes, the same way we can add simple (and cheap) routines to most things to get things done "at the edge.">that would fit into my current co-creative writing exercise.Aware of Orion's Arm?>why would a core module not be ableIt's a thought experiment about size/density limits.
