as much as I always figured that the government was incompetent, corrupt, malicious, whatever, the single most surprising thing to me after all these revelations isnt the scale of everything, or even that every administration has been comped, but rather that so many of these people have been in the US for longer than I've been alive. there are some people who received deportation orders in the fucking 90s and are still here. what's the point of deportation orders if you can stay for 40+ years anyway?
