Should Trump break with Europe by annexing Greenland, a massive window for aggressions will open.

Europe still owns the outer ring of the "Gulf of America" which mark its Eastern border to the Atlantic ocean. They are too juicy to ignore given the lack of defenses there.

Haven't heard anything about it, but from the perspective of power politics (and given Trump's latest aggressive stances) it would make a lot of sense to annex them.

Also: Bahamas (UK) has a lot of strategic value and Saint Pierre & Miquelon is harboring stupid French intelligence installations.

They all are right there for the taking, they have essentially zero defense and their total population is less than a million.

If I was Trump and I wanted to show the Europeans my middlefinger, I would take them.

I genuinely don't think Trump wants to fuck with the Euros as much as the weird melodrama spewing from EU leaders right now would indicate.

I think his chief goal is to secure his legacy by making the USA more biggerer for the 250 and Greenland is a natural candidate because it's big, strategic, and sparsely populated.

Greenland already has a huge US military presence. Wouldn't really change much beyond closing the ring around Canada.

For strategic purposes the Bermuda seem like a better target.

I read Hoover tried to buy the British ones after WW1 in the form of a war debt relief. But the British simply assumed the US would forgive them their war debt just like that.

They were right. lol...

The US has bases but it can stop all the Chink joint ventures popping up over the island. And make no mistake closing the ring around Canada is huge.

Canada takes the position that any northwest passage will be through its internal waters, its leverage is greatly reduced if the U.S. controls the toll gates Alaska and Greenland.

Right, good point. The only European territory save in the Americas is probably French Guyana, because of the strong military presence.

Doesn't the US already have a base in Bermuda?
>>
If Trump's going to take more islands they will probably be mid-Atlantic ones like Azores and Ascension due to their strategic location.
USA already has lots of bases in Caribbean and doesn't need more.
