They never managed to develop an urban culture, so instead its trying to derive its national identity from its village way of life, which is alright for a province, but unfit for real state-building. To overcompensate for this it spirals into misguided nationalism which attempts to conceal the lack of culture behind slogans and myths that do not really mean anything and will become redundant once they have to face and properly review them. All in all, its akin to 40 million trailer park attempting to create its own country.
