At what stage in life are people actually get penalized for not saving their money? It seems like there is no consequence to just spending all your money as you get it. For example, my sister who's in her mid 30s has two kids and she doesn't have any savings, all of her money goes to paying off her car and paying for stuff for her kids and she's not married, she works at a restaurant as a waitress and it just seems like she's able to buy whatever she wants. She goes on trips all the time, is generally thoughtless about spending. Like at what point does that lifestyle catch up to you? Because I'm not seeing it, I fell for the Dave Ramsey memes, I save my money I don't buy things even if I need them, I'll try to put it off for as long as possible. But then I see these normies just impulse buying things every day whenever they want, I think to myself am I living my life wrong? should I just be spending all my money?

She's probably up to her eyeballs in debt and would be fucked if she had to pay for any major unexpected expense
