Have you guys heard of this website? Just learned about it in a lecture. Interesting resource.

https://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing.php
>>
its surface level at best and utterly divorced from any operational reality

They may need to update.

> “Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move… I swear, I've never seen anything like it. We couldn't even stand up after that sonic weapon or whatever it was.”

> The security guard allegedly went on to claim that U.S. forces “killed hundreds of us,” according to Netter’s online post, and later issued a “warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States.”

USA vs Venezuela: 3hours.
Russia vs Ukraine: going on year 6-7
China vs Taiwan: never.

Did you look at the site? Calling it surface-level is false. Almost anything you click has multiple other resources to click on. Nothing can verify operational reality outside of the actual execution.

What would you consider to be superior resources?

Yeah, I'm curious to see the 2026 update.

therefore it should be ignored.
nobody sane works at a college/university after 2005.

That's a silly thing to say. Not everything is as outrageous as the media portrays. Sweeping statements are almost always worthless.

This particular professor is highly credentialed in geopolitics. I think he's a libertarian at heart but focuses on political realism (devoid of morality; evaluate based on an actor's strategic interests).

nigger, reality isnt hearts of iron 4. armies are maintained according to their environment and scenarios in which a country might find themselves in. the only reason for a country like mine to even have a standing army at all is because of our commitments to our allies; like nato. we are surrounded by entirely friendly, larger states and we could have easily gone without a military. just look at ireland: not in nato, and so 0.01% of gdp go to their 'military' and have gone for decades.
we have an expeditionary force that is able to deploy and fight almost anywhere in the world provided that we have the expected allied logistics to back us up. there is no scenario where our large lng fields are going to matter - not in the least because we closed down the extraction of it years ago. oil deficit doesnt matter when we are able to afford oil. our army is better than russia's just by the fact that we have 3x more operational 5th gen fighter jets and it wouldnt even come close
the entire thing is a joke

>USA vs afghanistan: 20 years lost
>USA vs iraq: lost
>USA vs vietnam: lost

See that's bullshit. Looking at x vs y does nothing but breed hubris. The fact that no one in western europe or america wants to confront is that ukraine was armed/trained for 8 FUCKING YEARS by nato(2014-2022), with fortresses built along the entire eastern front. And now, in 2026, almost all of those fortresses have fallen, with russia now having those same fortresses behind them as defense to fall back to if needed. Those ukrainian towns were built during the cold war to survive nuclear blasts and russia beat ukraine out of these cities with no foreign currency reserves, sanctions on all exports and facing the entire western military apparatus. All nato satellites, all equipment, all training, all fortified positions in east ukraine and nato STILL lost. Now, territory is being lost faster in 2025/2026 than it was in the previous 3 years because where are ukrainian drone operators going to hide without bunkers? You can't hide in farm fields and launch a hundred drones a day. I guarantee the pentagon is taking note of this, which is why drones are top priority and understanding the next battlefield is critical to train US troops.

I think its going to be without a question USA top dog.

Its always been the case, but (i believe) restraint has always been our failings. We have the means to beat any country, but it always how we go about conquering that determines multi-year prolonged war or quick desert storm era knock out war. We havent done well for anything prolonged since WW2. However our "knock out punch" has grown considerably stronger. Desert storm I remember being the hit them hard and fast example of how to do war, and it was 43days, with about 100hours offensive. If you considered the take over of venezula as the offensive, we basically reduced that record to 3 hours. Well see how long the backend takes.

None of that contradicts military strength rankings. I don't play video games. Not sure why you feel the need to vigorously defend being a weak country with surrounding context. Every geopolitical position has reasons for being what it is. That doesn't take away from it being what it is.
Why are you so emotional about this?
>>525850963
Our military doctrine seems to be shifting towards speed/agility, which is definitely the way to go. Land wars, Russia style, are obsolete in a lot of ways if you have technological superiority.
>>525850854
The way we "lose" wars is very different from the way almost anyone else in the world loses. That's why we haven't given up territory or otherwise become less than a/the top dog regardless of those "losses." I'm sure you know this. We overwhelm, then go home instead of eradicating. We don't act like the Athenians in Melos.

>USA vs afghanistan: 20 years lost
>USA vs iraq: lost
>USA vs vietnam: lost

Heres the stages of conquering:
Phase 0 – Shape
Phase I – Deter
Phase II – Seize the Initiative
Phase III – Dominate
Phase IV – Stabilize
Phase V – Enable Civil Authority

Phase 0-3 we obliterated each uncontested. The last two always gives us problems and where we "lost" those three.

For comparison, Russia in Ukraine right now has failed to get past phase 1.

As you said, it's hard to stabilize when our nation doesn't have to stomach for sheer brutality (cultural/resistant annihilation) due to how prosperous and comfortable our people are. It is what it is. That's why I'm liking this shift towards decapitation strikes and pressuring administrations to work with us through a combination of economic and intelligence leveraged combined with agile overwhelming force.

You should read beyond your gut reaction towards people you don't like. You can even disagree while acknowledging that there is a rational argument for particular rankings.

Yeah this site's been around for a zillion years

Not reading all that. But it's clear that russia has always been a paper tiger, even in its soviet days.
Russia v ukraine: lost
Russia v Chechnya: lost
Russia v germany, poland, latvia, lithuania, etc...: lost
I don't think I can actually point to a single time that russia actually won a war. Even in their imperial days they got their shit pushed in by the Japanese.

>india #4
give me ten strong men and we could beat up every single indian in the country and have it conquered in two months
