While you can definitely have too much h&s regulation, having none is just stupid.

A lot in the short term. In the long term you end up with a lot of dead workers just to be able to sell shoes to Westerners for 5 dollars a pop rather than 7 dollars.

>How Much of a Competitive Advantage Does No Workplace Safety Laws Give a Country?
Generally happier and more productive workers who can punch in and just zone out for 8 hours to go by really quick staying busy making parts.

I'll give you an example, because I had a job at a plant making rail open tread grip components as a welder, but I got put on the floor for OT a lot to make parts because I was so fast, it was worth them paying me welders wages for formers work.

The best machines to be on were old mechanical brake presses because they could be cycled constantly and fast, no problem staying awake all night running parts.

The worst machines were the Hydraulic Presses that were safety capped at the expected production rate an hour.
The fucking hydraulics were slow as shit, and you literally had trouble staying awake because you felt like 90% of the time you were waiting for an action to take place.

Most of the safety shit was able to work with like controls that demanded both hands, or lasers, In China they don't have any of that because for the most part they are not employing dumb nigger cattle who have no concept that the Machine doesn't care that they are made of meat.

Is there any way to meet in the middle?
For example to have machines that have adaptable safety features for the operator, that don't stifle output capability?
Seems like a false dichotomy gets created that things have to either be toddler tier or "lions rape you in the jungle" tier.

My middle was asking for the machines to fucking run faster, I could see the trade show demos of the machines I was on, how fast they could operate. I wanted to run that fast, in fact, I'd of preferred them to run faster and I be paid for the days quota.

No such title in the USA.
The Unions you will find yourself in the USA working in a shop are often bullshit.
>>
>>525857285
All of the advantage.

I work for Mondelez and their "safety" rules mean we can barely communicate in the workplace, I can't remove my earmuffs to listen to an Indian co-worker. I also can't manually unclog hoppers, I'm just supposed to let the machine sit there wasting money. Some of the machines require a quick fix, jump in and yank out a mis-folded box. But ohhh noo we have to walk to the other side of the factory to find a lock out tag just in case our precious arms get ripped off by a machine that can't even fold a fucking box.
>>
>>525861907
>any way to meet in the middle?
If you wanted efficent machines that are flexible and work at high speeds with reasonable safety you need intelligent and trained workers.

Indian steel mills have one or more smart jeets who are just as smart and capable as you, although they are izzat scammers like all jeets. But if they need more staff they hire those staff who have a bare list of what tasks they need to do at the job, but no underlying knowledge of why nor any quality control.
>>
>>525862909
Speaking of machines running fast, NEVER get a Toyoto brand pallete jack. It feels like walking a blind dog around the factory. They are so damn slow and the horn is softer than my farts.
>>
>>525857285
You shit on them when they're behind by decades
You shit on them when they rapidly catch up
Nobody gives a shit what you think
>>
>>525864515
Consider using a tool like a broomstick to reaching in your hand. The lockout tag is needed because some idiot will restart the machine while your fingers are in a pinch point or worse. And no, the idiot won't look. Also shutting down the machine means you unclogging it is less likely to cause additional damage if it starts to move immediately during or after repair.

If you are so smart about the box folder and unjamming it, write a proposed alternative repair method wjere you highlight:
>faster repair and reduced downtime
>safe for workers, no chance of injury
>safe for the machine, causes no damage
You can then speak with the management team about your proposed operating proceedure and get it approved as a process improvement.

None. It's a sliding scale. The more valuable the stuff you make and the more skill your workers require the more valuable worker safety rules become.

If you have a bunch of people sewing jeans then some worker safety rules are good, but it's easy to get excessive with them. If you have a bunch of engineers or material scientists then worker safety rules become extremely valuable. People will do stupid shit and it's costly if the rare and expensive workers get injured and can't work. The value these rules add from the government is that they prevent a race to the bottom between the companies on these rules.

If the level of worker safety rules is picked correctly then everybody wins.

There is, and they are normal. Light barriers, for example, don't limit the speed at which you can work, they just stop the machine from mangling you when you have a brain fart.

>No such title in the USA
Bullshit, but I agree about the unions, whether here or there. I admire the skill of your trolling, sir. I would tip my hat to you, but I no longer possess opposable thumbs due to a tragic mechanical (with its force, they may as well just have described it as 'kinetic') shearing accident.

The sad incident occurred with a surplus Soviet unit that had been used by them to make components for tanks, and it could allegedly shear, in a thunderous instant, a 1-1/4" thick chunk of mild steel hot-rolled plate 10 feet long.

Its 2-ton flywheel was a good 5 feet across, and it took almost a minute to get it up to full speed, and its underground stabilisers extended 20 feet into the ground, and even then, each cut made the whole building shake. Even the pigeons in the rafters knew that when the flywheel was charging up, it was time to fuck off for a bit or else their heads would soon be rattled into sawdust.

Anyways, long story short, it was a bright and sunny day when the ambulance came to get me as a result of my momentary lapse in attention, when both my thumbs were virtually atomised by the built-in Soviet safety features.

You see, although I had figured out a way to get past the modern Western safety feature of the light bar, I had failed to take into account the Soviet feature of the clamps, which are designed to keep the non-sheared bit from being blasted into the operator.

Clamps are generally tubular implements that come down before the actual shearing begins in order to pin the metal to the bed. Unfortunately, I am not a sufficiently clever man, and when I was holding down that last piece of quarter-inch plate that day, my thumbs somehow (target fixation, perhaps? who knows?) wound up in the way of the clamps, which were also mechanically driven by that mighty flywheel, and the resulting hydrostatic shock blew me backwards into a steel support beam, and I had to wear a spine brace for a year.

And I was one of the lucky ones.

Digits are also appendages in their own way, though, and I think most people who have lost them rue the day. Especially thumbs, I would imagine.

Anyways, the main point is to always be careful around actual machinery, which concept zoomers would probably require a school bus trip to see.

I wish I had a picture of that that shear, though, because it was a mighty unit that would rattle your teeth at 20 paces, and whoever invented it should be proud.

They just took their numbers from a chosen handful of 'elite' high schools in Shanghai back in the 1990s, and were probably lying about it then, and their imaginary numbers mean nothing, as always.

I've worked with chinks for at least 2 decades, and I give them an 85 average. It's like working with ants, and it's only occasionally fun. For example, when assigned a couple of mainlanders for a painting job one day, and I brought a radio to help with the job, they couldn't even wrap their heads around the idea that music could make the work go easier. Honestly, they were just baffled, which in turn baffled me. Culturally and spiritually, wogs are not like us, imo.

You are a lying kike, imo. American industry died due to greedy jews, and that is all. I watched it happen. Jobs like in washing-machine factories that could support families got deported, with none of the promised benefits. What we got was shit products at the same prices, and a speed-run to the bottom societally. But that's none of our business, right? Trust the plan, RIGHT?

It is hard not to become irked sometimes, imo.

Anything out of a chink mouth should be considered a lie until proven otherwise, imo.

Fun fact, too, that the average chink is really hard to train on things. Seriously, try to teach them the easiest, time-tested method of doing something, and they will immediately find some way to fuck it up.

This is probably why chinks need to have beatings in their factories. I miss the old white days, when beatings were mostly not necessary.
