Charlie Kirk got shot on my birthday, 11 days after I got laid off from my shitty factory job I'd worked for 5 years and gone from 15/hr to 25/hr but still couldn't afford a home. I had a nice birthday bike ride and finding out he got shot in the middle of it kinda ruined it (my friend was upset I didn't spend my birthday with her so I talked to her and her boyfriend on the phone for a while and suddenly she said "omg charlie kirk got shot!"). I rode to a 7/11 along the trail (it was half-natural-half-suburban which I kinda like) and stopped there, got a red slushie, sat on the bench outside and drank it while watching poor Charlie's neck get turned into red slushie. I remember everyone thought it was that old jewish dude at first. A few days later I had planned a date with a girl and there was a vigil for Charlie Kirk that same night. My mom wanted to go, sort of, and I didn't go, so I could go on a date with her instead. I kinda regret that I didn't go. That girl ended up breaking up with me after 3 months because I didn't have a job and I was trying to go back to college so I could earn more than 56k/yr (she made 64k/yr). Now I have a beautiful Italian lawyer who wants a 2nd date with me. She's probably gonna dump me soon too once I give her the ick. It hurts each time a relationship fails because it really is an indictment of my financial failings, even though I have 80,000 saved from living with my parents til age 31.I don't know what the hell is the point of this post but while I think that Charlie was a ZOGbot something about his murder fucked me up. Maybe because we were the same age? Or maybe it was seeing my IRL friends celebrating his death, and knowing that that meant that they wanted me dead as well.
