I now work as a "correctional officer". I make $2k more than I used to ($74k), high job security, no fear of competing with other Indians and Chinese immigrants, and I'm basically the only tech literate guy here. Most of the other correctional officers are basically Canadian version of American rednecks and neo-nazis, friendly polite nice white people, but they're sadly very dumb, most were in the army or security guards earlier. Physically very strong too. There are a few other Indians and filipino officers, but even they are tall and well-built compared to me. Job is easy - very disgusting work to clean the jail cells sometimes, but high job security. It's certainly not a high-stress job like IT.
