Why did boomers have to ruin it?
These faggots had the BEST Nazi technology, and they were all too happy to get rid of it as a final FUCK YOU when they sold your future to jews, women, niggers and jeets.

What could have propelled the boomer faggot to be like this?

BTW i could ASS-BLAST Anyone Near Proximity with this Mega-TON JET!!
It Packs a HEAVY PUNCH SOUND WISE !!!

I played Cold Winter this past Christmas on this Beauty.

Emulators can only mimic, but never give you the BEST RAW UNFILTERED FRESH VRILL OFD DA TUUUBE !!! and i tell you its worth having and JEEPING one.

As we run out of selfish fucks with 30 years of experience who refuse to repair them, make sure you always x2 more stored in the attic.

Fuck BOOMERS for RUINING EVERYTHING.

Yes everything went to SHIT AFTER they stopped production, notice the timeline right Before smartphones, microtransactions in PS3 games and all that.

Besides, with this 32" Philips CRT i can cancel out wifi signals sent by CIA niggers.

I'll make sure to not fry up the capacitors, i have read into this. Bed time, x6 brick power-switch goes off. And so forth.

My GREATEST FUCK YOU in the making... even if i Die in the End.

>>
CRT was garbage. I was born 1981, so I spent thousands of hours staring at them before 2006 or so.
People saying they had 'true black' are wrong. You had to set the contrast way up to get the lows to be pure black, and then the highs were blown out, so you got feathering on the edges because of refraction.
You were better off doing lower contrast and higher white balance to be easier on the eyes.
And don't get me started on TVs.

Basically your argument is that CRTs are superior because they make old 80s and 90s video games look better. Even though 99.9% of TVs are used to watch sports, shows, movies, soap operas, etc and population wise the number of people who played those games is small and the number who play them today is even smaller. They took up too much space and weighed too much and the red, green, and blue would only line up in the center and drift toward the edges. Blacks were better but the highlights were all crushed. Modern flat screens are a revolutionary upgrade over CRTs. Most people don’t play old video games. I do but I’m not most people

But at the same time they should have stayed in the market, even if it was just Sony making them as a Legacy consumer grade TV for enthusiasts.
Im not the guy in charge sadly. They'd sell like hotcakes because Ebay scalpers would buy in Bulk. Thus bringing down prices, if relentless production into the market would exhaust the scalper jew from doing this over and over. Just a precedent, look what they did with the mini emulator "consoles" releases by both Nintendo and Sony.

Sadly, because of retards like Linus Sebastian, people think OLEDs look better than CRTs, so now most people think that CRT filters on their emulator look like a proper CRT display on them. Which is of course horseshit.
The good thing about a tube like Trinitrons and Panasonics and other Japanese tubes, is they can basically be kept alive indefinitely with care. Capacitors and some tweaks to potentiometers can keep your old set top-notch. The things were built to last.

one good thing about living in the big metro area i do is having access to a couple of nearby arcade enthusiast places that do repairs and such, if i feel i'm not up to fixing something. people realizing that """retro gaming""" is 100x better than modern slop has been a godsend in keeping the hobby alive, though it has also had the downside of raping the prices of some stuff that used to be super cheap only a few years ago.

i've actually ordered a good bit of arcade stuff from portuguese sellers over the years (last thing was a neo geo db15-to-usb adapter), so i'm happy to see that there's little pockets of the hobby all over the place

Boy, you shut your bitch ass up!
I got this 19-inch Trinitron a few days ago because I bought the CRT hype, and this fucking piece of shit has been nothing but a headache ever since!
Tried to watch an anime on it, but it has such fucking horrible overscan problems that the subtitles were halfway off the screen!
This fucking beast is from 1989, before it was possible to adjust the image using a remote control, so there is no way for me to fix the overscan without opening it up, and I'm not going to fucking do that!
So if I want to watch anything on it, I have to send a signal from my computer through an HDMI-to-composite converter, and then adjust the size and position of the video within the video player so it actually lines up correctly on the TV!
Fuck, it's the most inconvenient way to watch anything I've ever experienced!
Gaming on it isn't so bad, but I can't go back to an era without save states or fast-foward, so I NEED to emulate even though a functional SNES is sitting 2 feet away from the TV.
And do you know how fucking hard it is to find a ROM set that doesn't have a bunch of duplicates or a shitty naming scheme?
This fucking shit is a headache, man! I never should have got it!

Same with curating content you like, to many Toshiba external hard drives. Each 5-7 years you repeat that process to keep your shit Alive.

I also have 2 Windows XP SP3, 1 Windows 98, and a custom unbloated offline build of Windows 10 1709 x64 Bit Home Edition packed up with a 150 games. All pirated. Because Steam is for fags. They are now... 10 year old games at least, so who cares.
>>
>>525940788

Well duh what did you expect? CRT's use a mask filter to allow the light to come through expressed in the proper color spectrum. Due to this, they 'blend' in a way that isn't a pixel. That effect is nice for old video games and such where they were designed knowing the TV would 'alias' the edges. However, if you're used to a modern format TV, you will probably hate it.

CRT's these days are a specific use case only. If you need to watch some older content on the TV, it's perfectly suited for that. Just don't put anything on them that's less than 25 years old.
>>
>>525943251
Filthy like your asshole.

>>525931098
pixel displays have lag. CRTs don't. if you are a hardcore gamer, let's say in a shooter, and you try playing on a CRT, you'll feel like a god.

A CRT tv is great for analog signals.
But to say it's better than oled in general? No, not at all. It has a WORSE contrast ratio than ips and it's not even close.
Yea, I said the truth, there it is. CRT has a terrible contrast ratio, anyone who says otherwise is a fucking retard who isn't using their brain, probably a vaxxed npc.
How the FUCK can it have a good contrast ratio when any unlit part of the screen is grey? It literally cannot display black...

CRTs scanning rate is also fixed and there is in fact a slight delay, but it probably is still less than a modern day cheap panel where the rate is slow. Any proper modern display though will very much beat the CRT's scanning line given it's an 'at once' display technology rather than line per line drawing.

Then you're fine to snag up an old CRT. If you can find an old one you can even service them if you have a degaussing ring and some tools for it. They get demagnetized over time so old displays will be extra fuzzy without a service.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The color range of old quality CRTs beats even modern displays. Modern displays touting that they can do 98% of the AdobeRGB space, lol, even the CHEAP CRTs could do that.
>>
>>525943692

Thats where the fault lies. All "at once" display will generally fuck it up for retro consoles. Sonic Adventure on the Sega Dreamcast will look like shit. This is just one of many aspects in which chinky tellies fail miserably. You can keep them!!

It's not bait.
I lose faith in humanity every single time someone is retarded enough to spread the wive's tale that a crt has a good contrast ratio when by it's very nature it cannot display black. It doesn't go any darker than grey. Just look at OP's picture.
>>
>>525943918

It's the blacks that you're thinking about when it comes to color space. CRT's are 100% true black since it is not energizing the phosphorus coating when the scanning line skips that part of the display. In fact you bring up a very good point - CRT's are still referenced for their true black. That is something modern displays still don't replicated 100%. I have a really good samsung 2k display now which i like and it actually gets 'close' to the CRT blacks. Still not 100% and will never be.
>>
>>525944007

I'm not wrong, i'm saying the CRT has a fixed scanning rate which you can measure using a camera. However, the input lag you're referring to is an abberation of cheap displays. You can get basically the same response rate from a really good panel. Is it EXACTLY the same? Idk, can you tell a .05millisecond difference? Maybe you can, some people swear by it.

I don't find it a compelling enough reason to want to deal with all of the other downsides though.
>>
>>525943801
Well that is true. If you find them in a dump somewhere in most cases.
But i buy from people who "sealed" and conserve this hardware safe without going anywhere. Its not an issue. So long as i can test at least one old console. I can make a proper judgenent based on that. And i bring along a copy of Jak 3.

It's not that simple, a lot of content is not formatted for a the aspect ratio that those TVs were designed for it. It's not just a matter of ability, but the content is not created to format nicely on the screen. You'll either need to "Pan&Scan", crop or accept letterboxing.

>The color range of old quality CRTs beats even modern displays.

And it's not perceivable.
I remember my first lcd monitor. It was a 19" 60hz 5:4 TN panel back in 2005 made by Gateway. It btfo'd any CRT I had ever used before that. The text on the screen looked like you could reach out and touch it, something we take for granted today, it wasn't behind a thick layer of glass anymore. The blacks were blacker, and yes even the colors gave the appearance of popping more. Everything was simply crisper. My eyes also didn't hurt anymore after being on the computer for more than three to four hours at a time.
The advantages of a CRT is certainly not picture quality. It's low input lag and having no native resolution.

>>525944223
You think I don't know that it doesn't light up unlit parts of the screen? I know WHY people say a CRT has a great contrast ratio, and I am explaining the glaringly obvious reason this is false. They cannot display black, it's that simple. Any unlit area of the screen is grey. How can such an obvious fact escape people?
>>

>>525944474

Really? I actually hated the early LCDS other than their improved resolution. Their viewing angle is very limited, if you're more than 15% off you can visibly watch it wash out to a rather gross looking greyish bleh. Cheap modern displays still have that issue too. I guess it doesn't really matter when you're in a fixed seating position. Go ahead and look at your screen off axis and see if it washes out. It probably does.
>>
>>525944683
Massive sour grapes cope on your part
Funnily enough you can't really sit close to a CRT because it becomes a blurry, flickering mess
>>
>>525943692
You are absolutely wrong. I'll repeat. Every pixel display has lag. CRT does NOT. yes, it is "scanning" creating an image, but it is sending "pixels" to the screen at the speed of light without delay or any digital translation that needs to happen in between. There's not even a microsecond of delay.
>>
>>525944649

when I moved out of the house I had to leave my crt and got a tn panel, then another tn, then an ips, then I went back to crt and let me tell you, there really is no comparison
one of the tns was not that bad because it had a glossy screen so colors popped but the rest? crt is leagues better regarding color, only issue is when u have something very bright next to something very dark... but at least I can have something very dark, impossible in the ips

>>
>>525944894

Every display in existence has a slight input lag, it's physically impossible not to. You want to argue that point further? Go ahead and be a dumbass.
>>
>>525944192
>fixed scanning rate
It's drawing at the speed of light faster than any digital display could ever draw. You're confused, because you think capturing a swath of bright lines where the speed of light made numerous passes across a section in the time it took your camera to expose a fraction of a second means you somehow captured it being "slow". No, it's the exact opposite of what you're thinking. The reason you're seeing huge swaths of bright light is because your camera is too slow to capture anything but multiple passes of the light in a fraction of a second.

All you had was a sharper picture. Blacks and color were always better on CRT, and if you had a quality CRT, MUCH better. Pay 800 bucks for a CRT back in the day gave you top of the line display that beats anything today for color and range. Plus the no lag thing. Someone tried to buy a quality CRT from me some years back, and I almost sold it. Glad I didn't. It still works and looks great.
>>
>>525944988
I have never seen any lcd screen no matter how ancient or cheaply made display blacks as badly as any CRT. I want this myth dispelled forever. A CRT doesn't display anything close to black.

Bro, no...
You're not listening. It's inherent to the design of a CRT. They DO NOT display black. It's impossible for them to display black. How could they when they are grey when turned off of all things? The whole premise for people saying they "have perfect blacks" is because there is no backlight. Like an oled, they can turn areas of the screen completely off. But on a CRT those unlit parts of the screen are grey.

You know when you don't display anything on your digital tv/monitor and it's just shows "black" but it's not really as dark as it can be, and you notice how much darker the screen looks when the tv actually shuts off? That's what a CRT black looks like because the screen literaly is "OFF" where the light beam is not hitting the screen. And in fact, it's even darker than that, because of the depth of the tube, you're literally looking into the darkness in the box, plus some glass was even tinted for even darker blacks.

Lost? In the sense that we've been trying to forget because it's just not practical to make them like modern TVs are where they're incredibly simple and cheap to make. You don't need all of these safety efforts and manufacturing for specific parts like you would in a CRT. Again, I point towards modern architecture because it's essentially the same thought principle behind it. It's cheap, simple to make, and it does its job compared to the grandiose of old world architecture.

in college around 2012 rich frens had the early 2000s widescreen crt sony trinitrons. it was a fucking huge one. like 40 inches. it took 3 of us to move it. and we barely could bc they are so wide and odd. when jeff and I moved out, him and his dad just trashed it. it was so hard to move it wasn't worth trying to save lmao

it had great picture it was early 1080i. if you can find one they would be worth stashing away but my God is a big crt a nightmare to move. i just got one for a dollar at the thrift last week. early RCA prob only 22 inches or so. nothing huge. it still had the wal mart sticker on it. like 250 bucks in 1993.

this. I have 3 plasmas. the one my dad bought us for xmas in 2006 is still working and looks great. It's a panasonic. I've since found the bigger version of the one my dad bought and for free on marketplace. just drove 30 miles to scoop and it was worth. years ago I had a cheap 4k LED and said fuck it. I sold it for 200 to some niggers and bought an LG 65 inch plasma for 100 bucks from some rich family that was done with it. marketplace is great to find old plasmas. I plan to grab a least a couple more and stash them in my shed/barn/shop. I have about 200 blu rays and plasmas are just too good at 1080p. I also have a fuck ton of dvds and they look fine too. but plasma truly shines on blu ray. I think it's peak cinema with a good surround system. 4k tends to make some films look too much like broadway or theatre to me. not always though. I

I stated facts. CRT has a terrible contrast ratio.
>>
>>525952392
You stated it doesn't do black
And by you own admission, nothing does
>>
>>525952087
I'm a pixel art kinda guy. I like Metroid Zero Mission more than Dread. Looks way better.
>>
>>525952575
Not him but obviously my OLED has infinite contrast
>>
>>525952795
Uh huh
>>
>>525951927
Every plasma tv is well past its half life and has less than half its original nits lmfao. Still better than CRT by a mile
>>
>>525952911
Yes. Thanks for the (You)
>>
>>525952575
>ackswually nothing is perfectly black

Stfu queer. You're doing midwit "gotcha's" about things I never fucking claimed.
A CRT is significantly less black.
>>
>>525953099
>less black.
Uh huh
As I said, semantics
>>
>>525937397
CRT were really not that expensive at all, especially in the later period when the production process was really dialed in. Larger CRTs were expensive, but the smaller ones, 21 inch and smaller were really quite cheap. A classic of the late period was the 14 inch tvs for £49.99
>>
>>525930362
I was thinking of getting a 14 inch CRT for anime and older video games, should I try getting a bigger one or is 14 inch good enough?
>>
>>525930362
i can taste this image

> CRT is heavy
Its amazing how weak the modern man is. Back when I was a kid, I was moving CRTs around the house on my own, even up the stairs, apparently you a weaker than a child.
