Now the real question is what non Israeli targets should they hit? If they blow up something that's supposed to be perfectly protected like a US base or that Saudi oil field with its own THAAD, that would be a pretty huge humiliation.There's also other oil facilities like Al Basrah which would be hugely destabilizing to the oil market but would run the risk of getting American citizens motivated a la Kuwait.

It would take a while to straighten out all the damage. When electrical power is lost, basically modern society can't function. Thus if all you do is cripple the power plants, you also take out the refineries and desalination plants.
