Out of all the deals USA has offered for Greenland this was the only fair one. In 1946 they offered 100 million USD for it or just 1.6 billion dollars in today's money. But Denmark had learned from Russia and rejected that deal. And considering how Greenland's GDP is 3.3 billion that was an extremely bad deal.However land on the other hand has a lot of value. And Puerto Rico has good tourism economy. So this trade offer would have actually been a fair offer unlike the pathetic cash deals. If you want to buy Greenland for cash then the only fair price would be 52 trillion or more according to my Bakhmut value calculation (16.1 square miles=1 billion that Russia paid for that area)

i don't understand why this is so controversial. The USA pays for Greenland's defense, and Denmark pays for Greenland's social safety net programs. Why not just share the island's administration and make it a joint Denmark-US territory where both countries have to agree for something major to happen like China building a base on the island or strip mining its natural resources? The USA could even split the gibs 50/50 and the citizens could remain Danish but lose their right to declare independence.
