There's no way of knowing for sure.All you can know is the following: Some academics take population wide statistics on small N / sample sizes, then loosely run prompt and response based surveys, or pour through human opinion based categorizations and severity levels on any and all numbers available, then extrapolate a loose but fits close enough for this study theory onto the entire sample population from the smallest N their institution or sponsor could afford. Then this "study" or "finding" is accepted as partial truth, applied to the entire race or ethnicity in question, something encompassing 10s of millions of individuals, and soon thereafter, a stereotype is formed. Without any actual concrete hard science. Just a soft science grad-student and TA led study that got media attention.This stereotype then perpetuates not only within the external population outside said group, but within in-group members as well, altering their own perception of self which is based on perception from others, and changes their actual behavior to fit more towards what's expected of them. This cycle then continues until a large subset of the group in question, by decision and action of in-group members themselves, becomes like the stereotype, becomes like what the "shoe-string budget study conducted on 1100 students and flagrant fouls that agreed for $50" thought they found.This a fucking shit show if you ask me.Here's what I'm going to do:If I see a black person or Jewish person that seems like they're nice and my gut feeling says they seem alright, I'll give them a chance.
