Of course the weapon needs to be registered but instead of just buying a gun and registering I need a first step of obtaining a weapon purchase permit. I'm trying to follow the law and they're making me not want to.

Second of all you still need a permit to actually obtain black powder, although I never bothered checking the laws to figure out if it's lawful or not for that restriction to exist. It is piss easy and way quicker to get that permit. Actual gun licenses can take like a month-month and a half in best case scenarios but the easiest one to get still requires you to continue being a gun club member and attending shooting competitions although it's honestly not a high bar.
