That hundreds of soldiers would immediately be committed to Greenland in the middle of fucking winter with absolutely no prior experience of Arctic warfare, and no established facilities for accommodation or logistics?Even at the height of the Cold War, Americans weren't dumb enough to deploy more than a few handfuls of troops there and the majority of their facilities, were to find out if it would one day be possible to put troops there if it became necessary, without hundreds of them freezing and starving to death.They concluded that no, it's not possible without spending ridiculous amounts of money, and that they'd have barely any combat capability anyway. And ultimately Europe know that America doesn't really have the means to maintain a combat presence of more than a few dozen soldiers there any more than Europe does.
