Persia is in a similar abrahamic humiliation ritual as Europe is. They want to keep Persia islamized like how they want to islamize Europe as revenge against Amalek and such.
The Islamic Republic is not first and foremost anti-american or anti-zionist. First and foremost its anti-iranian. Khomeini said that the revolution has failed as long as arabic has not replaced persian as the most common and official language.
What Israel and the US always does is sweet talk all these secular forces in the middle east while what they actually do in practice is prop up Salafism/Wahabism and Twelver Shi'ism. Its a project thats gone on since 1967 when the US first snubbed secular Egypt in favor of wahabi Saudi Arabia. The project then intensified in 1977 (first Likud government in Israel) and 1979 (fall of the Shah).

Here is a general timeline of all the shady stuff thats gone in with Iran:
>1925-1941: Reign of the first Shah (Reza Shah Pahlavi) who the British put into power but he was cozying up to Hitler somewhat after a while so the UK and USSR jointly invaded Iran in 1941 and installed his son instead (guy that got overthrown in 1979).
>1941-1953: Iran is a British/Western puppet again and becomes an American puppet in 1953 when Eisenhowers CIA does a PSYOP to overhaul the entire parliamentary system and concentrate more power to the Shah just to get rid of Mossadegh because he was seeking to nationalize the oil reserves
>1953-1979: The Shah is now an American puppet but at the same time takes some discreet steps against the US and Israel. He snakes Israel in favor of Egypt during the Yom Kippur war, trolls Mike Wallace during a 60 minutes interview in 1976, starts cracking down on the opium trade going through Iran into the west and also takes step to do what Mossadegh had previously attempted with the oil. So the west in the end decides to astroturf a bunch of leftist and islamic protests against the Shah and Khomeini is finally flown in directly from France (you read that right) who had a line of communication with the Jimmy Carter white house up until the staged hostage crisis which leads into Iran-Contra.
>1979-present: Iran helps Israel along in destabilizing Lebanon in the 80s with Hezbollah. Iran then supports the US invasions of Afganistan and Iraq in the 2000s. The IRGC lets the opium flow through Iran into the west and cuts in on it themselves.
