We have defended and continue to defend our sovereignty, our right to be and remain Russia.However, as head of state, I am obliged to see the whole picture. Not only on the external front, but also within the country. I am closely monitoring the mood in society. And I have no right to turn a blind eye to objective reality.I see that deep fatigue has accumulated in society. I know the difficulties that every Russian family faces. I see how painful the rise in prices is for your incomes, which, despite all the efforts of the government, we have not yet been able to fully curb. I hear your muted, and sometimes overt, irritation with restrictions on information, with blockages, with the narrowing of the space we are accustomed to for communication and life.Many of you rightly ask: when will things get easier? Where are we going?I feel - and this is perhaps the most important thing - that the "chemistry," the unconditional bond and trust between the leader and the citizens, which has been our foundation for all these decades, has begun to change. I see criticism. I see a demand for renewal, for different approaches, for new faces. Trying to hold on to power at any cost, ignoring the will of the people, is a dead end that is dangerous for statehood.I have always been guided by one principle: Russia's interests come first. Above personal ambitions, above positions.We have built up a reserve of strength. But in order to leap into the future, to relieve the growing tension in society, changes are needed.
