Geography determines your nation's standing in the world. If you have a good geography your nation is deemed to succeed. We can break a country into 3 parts:>Location.>Terrain (physical geography)>Natural resources.Location is by far the most crucial part, even if you have an abundance of wealth, a bad location makes you an easy prey to others. Africa is a good example, Africa is rich and plentiful, but their location (except North Africa which contacted civilization) is isolated plus it's either jungles or sand which isn't suitable for civilization building.Europe by contrast has a good location (North Atlantic and Mediterranean) plus sizable amount of plains which is good for agriculture and rivers allowing for easy transportation made it an extremely overpowered place.
