Trump finally has someone giving him good advice.The whole "we can't let Chinese EVs in to protect our auto industry" plan was always self-defeating and counter to prosperity.Get this... EVs rely on batteries and infrastructure. The smartest move is letting China in, because they're not going to stop at selling cars, they need to invest the whole package of infrastructure to facilitate these EVs. They'll set up battery plants, battery replacement stations, highways, car manufacturing plants, maintenance etc, not even mentioning energy. The amount of jobs needed to create all of this exceeds the existing number of jobs in the auto industry already AND you get updated infrastructure even if it's not superior rail.And the training etc pretty much equates to a tech/manufacturing transfer to the US from China. It's so stupid countries weren't doing it decades ago, because it's precisely how China got their tech, by letting US tech and industry in.If Canada was under better leadership ever (conservatives just as racist as liberals) we would have such an auto deal with China over a decade ago, instead of playing catchup to US decisions because our government loves US dick and is xenophobic towards China.
