The hacks behind NuTrek dumped more shit on the venerable legacy of the original series with Starfleet Academy.We get gay half-breed Klingon, fat dyke, 421 year old cougar-momma, some kid who can breathe space, stupid little flying robots, a virtual superchunk girl ... and everyone has some sob story.The "academy" is a school, no wait it's a ship, it's a building with detachable wings. Everyone has self-doubt and there seems to be no teachers or chaperones anywhere because when crisis hits the brand new students can do whatever they want (hack systems, etc.).Some grown-up orphan boy is the fulcrum of the story with a badly-overacting Paul Giamatti playing a generic villain.TNG was a kids show and only Voyager had its moments (and first part of Season 3 of Picard) - each new incarnation is worse than the last.Kurtzman, Paradise, Myers (and JJ Abrams) have ruined this franchise.
