I really couldn't care less.
I have a cheap office computer with no graphics card and like 8gb of ram.
It's good enough to emulate all the way up to ps3/xbox 360.
What the fuck do I need ram for?

This. More and more people are realizing that LLMs will never become intelligent, will never understand shit, will never invent any solution that they have not already been trained on, that sinking more money into them will bring nothing but diminishing returns. LLMs are a dead end. For obvious reasons many in the AI business just LIE ABOUT THIS and fantasize about "AGI" and "superintelligence" despite not even the lowest form of intelligence theoretically being possible with LLMs. Only models trained on sensory data, just like living organisms, will ever have a chance of becoming intelligent.

Let me fill you in how the economy has always worked.

>economy does good
>poor and middle class build and create lots of stuff
>everyone does well
>economy tanks
>things get too expensive for middle class to own
>forced to sell stuff just to stay alive
>ultra wealthy buy everything
>economy gets better
>ultra wealthy rent you the things you use to own
>middle class become trapped in as they can't afford to own anything anymore and all income is spent on renting what they once owned

Tale as old as time. This is how rich get richer and poor get poorer.

I told people this would happen when the GTX 10 series came out. I told them that technology had gotten to the point where gaming graphics could no longer reasonably keep up with the advance of hardware. Not because that card was so advanced or awe-inspiring, admirable though it was. But, because I knew that there was no more heart in it. There was no reason for a company to care about some shiny wrapper for their digital opiate that would now require an entire team to produce, only to wow a select number of users for no more than just over a couple of months, if not weeks.
I told them that they would soon be able to achieve all of the grandiose, out-of-reach graphics of that day, on budget hardware that you'd be made fun of trying to run in that day's terms of hardware envy. That very soon there would be almost no reason for the average gamer to purchase more than anything just above the entry-level in terms of power.
And I was right.
AI had nothing to do with it. That was still a far-away dream, despite what thispersondoesnotexist.com had to say about it. We couldn't imagine being able to do that on the fly, on our own hardware, sitting on the desks right in front of us.
But here we are.

It's okay. I built a new gaming rig in May with a big beefy 64gigs of RAM and I typically make a new build every 4-5 years. The last system lasted 4.5 years. If I have to use this one a little longer that won't be an issue. I have Windows 10 Enterprise LTCS anyway so I'm good until 2032 if I have to really stretch it.

All you need to do is give them different inputs. The LLM is just the speech. Anything else can be bolted on later. In 10 years you will have a LLM and it will have basic emotional "neurons" that can feel pleasure and pain, develop preferences.

The bubble is not popping. Once real innovation happens and computer power increases there will be more than just a talking word processor with an encyclopedia.

>>
>>526129494
>from $100 for 32GB to $250
Now imagine how frustrating it is trying to get ram with actually good timings. Fucking non-existent at this point. Two sticks of fast ram at 32gb a stick cost as much as a 5090.
>>
>>526129640
It's like $800 a 5090 is several thousand.
>>
>>526124104
there is no shortage, the 3 companies that make memory intentionally cut supply last january.
they could make more chips, but demand is so high they can just make less and charge more to the AI companies that will do absolutely anything to show growth.
i recommend you buy all the PS5's you can get your hands on because they can be found for $250 and are extremely undervalued hardware that was recently unlocked.
>>
>>526124104

The steam machine only has like 8gb of ram and 8gb of vram. So expect games to be complete slop for the next decade.

Nobody cares about workstations anymore and everything is moving over to slim dummy terminals. Your average consumer is going to be stuck on a device that's running on the same server as their local high-school and they're not going to see anything wrong with that.

this might happen

a. you updoot and scum maliciously makes so that your ram overheats
now you are without a machine or you have to pay $1400 for two sticks

Its designed that way. Their building these days centers for the military under the guise of comercial public companies. When the buble bursts the government will come in and bail out the companies like they did with car manufacturers and banks in the 2008 crisis. After that they'll transfer whatever data centers did happen to be built into the hands of the military industrial complex. It's a corporate capitalist bubble that's designed to burst and offload all of it's real world output onto the mic. Think of it like JPL and NASA during the cold war.

The comment Elon made about AI being the radical tech that gets America out of debt made the whole thing crystal clear.
