Can we all say thank you to Trump for making RAM so expensive?
I really couldn't care less.I have a cheap office computer with no graphics card and like 8gb of ram. It's good enough to emulate all the way up to ps3/xbox 360.What the fuck do I need ram for?
>>526124104>Microsoft still can't get people to buy new win11 compatible PCs>Parts skyrocketJeets on suicide watch
>i'm poor: the thread
AI is clearly more important than cheap ram for brokies.
>>526124104Sure Micron, sure
>>526124216Looks like they dont want anyone to create their own uncensored offline A.i.
>>526124104meanwhile you get pocket computer with 128GB ram in a size where not even a single ram stick fits inits probably just that the jews dont want people use local AI
I voted for this. The rich deserve a deregulated fiefdom backed by the military to rule over us peasants. MAGA
>>526124771lol what the fuck is THAT? You could get a 5090 for cheaper than that thing.
>>526124735Maybe or maybe it's like when crypto got popular and vram was super expensive as a result. There's probably a billion retards making AI shit we'll see coming out in the next five years or so buying up all the ram.
>>526124104Fearmongering the bubble will not last Jan 2027
Used 16GB DDR4 DIMM's are cheap, and who the fuck truly needs a CPU to game with that's faster than from that era?
>>526125161It's capitalism's fault.>gotta play the newest most expensive games ONLYWhy?>So I can spend money on games when they're at peak cost and buy expensive hardware that will be more cheap in ten years, duhGoy cattle got mind fucked.
>>526124104Should have bought Micron, it's not too late anon, free money right now for 2026.
>>526124104glad I got 64gb
>>526125396This Your old rig is actually safeguard from thisIf you rig from 10 years ago, cannot run a game at 1080p 60fps+, you probably shouldnt play that neuage slop
>>526124104why did they use a 25 year old ram stick?
>>526124104good. let VR progress for the consumers in lieu of raw compute. by 31 we'll still be playing games from 1998 or 2007 on a VR immersive experience thatll dwarf what we know now.also close your tabs anon, they eat memory.
>>526124104You got what you voted for.
>>526125717RAM is so expensive now that even pictures of RAM have gone up in price. It was all they could afford.
>>526125703The ultimate redpill is looking at the absolute peak gaming rig from a year like 2005 or so.Would have cost you 10,000 USD or more at the time, worth about 100 dollars today in terms of power.
fact is DDR4 ram 32/64 gb is fucking still awesome for what it does. same faggots who bought a 5090 on release only to cry when they don't get their tendies on time.>3090 and I'm still happy
>>526124905This. More and more people are realizing that LLMs will never become intelligent, will never understand shit, will never invent any solution that they have not already been trained on, that sinking more money into them will bring nothing but diminishing returns. LLMs are a dead end. For obvious reasons many in the AI business just LIE ABOUT THIS and fantasize about "AGI" and "superintelligence" despite not even the lowest form of intelligence theoretically being possible with LLMs. Only models trained on sensory data, just like living organisms, will ever have a chance of becoming intelligent.
>>526124104I guess we wont need it after 2030 because thats when deagal said we are going to be population decreased.
WW3 is going to happen. 2031? Really? A year after the much used 2030. Lmao come on. This is insane. And people still won't do a fucking thing. I'm tired of it. Why the fuck did 1 of my RAM sticks have to die like a month ago. Goddamn
Let me fill you in how the economy has always worked.>economy does good>poor and middle class build and create lots of stuff>everyone does well>economy tanks>things get too expensive for middle class to own>forced to sell stuff just to stay alive>ultra wealthy buy everything >economy gets better>ultra wealthy rent you the things you use to own>middle class become trapped in as they can't afford to own anything anymore and all income is spent on renting what they once ownedTale as old as time. This is how rich get richer and poor get poorer.
I told people this would happen when the GTX 10 series came out. I told them that technology had gotten to the point where gaming graphics could no longer reasonably keep up with the advance of hardware. Not because that card was so advanced or awe-inspiring, admirable though it was. But, because I knew that there was no more heart in it. There was no reason for a company to care about some shiny wrapper for their digital opiate that would now require an entire team to produce, only to wow a select number of users for no more than just over a couple of months, if not weeks. I told them that they would soon be able to achieve all of the grandiose, out-of-reach graphics of that day, on budget hardware that you'd be made fun of trying to run in that day's terms of hardware envy. That very soon there would be almost no reason for the average gamer to purchase more than anything just above the entry-level in terms of power. And I was right. AI had nothing to do with it. That was still a far-away dream, despite what thispersondoesnotexist.com had to say about it. We couldn't imagine being able to do that on the fly, on our own hardware, sitting on the desks right in front of us. But here we are.
>>526124771What a joke
>>526124905Nothing ever happens bros always win, so its probably some kike scam like this.>NWO coming goyim. You will own nothing. Better buy this $550 ram now while you can. Its an amazing deal!
>>526124855It's a computer. You plug a keyboard and mouse and screen in to that and it's a PC.
>>526124104>RAM Price Hike Expected To Last Until 2031Chinese computers will be the only way out of this.
>>526125396>gotta play the newest most expensive games ONLYNa, it's more like >I need to play at 2k Ultra, minimum, or else I'm not having any fun.
>>526127602Yeah that too.I had a gamer pc for vr shitz.I still played my games in 1080p because you literally can not tell the difference and of course it's like half the work for the gpu
I have the same crucial ddr4 16x2 sticks since 2020, will keep them until they die or the AI bubble pops
pic in the catalog looked like a bar of chocolate
64GB DDR5 master race.
ram is a distraction. you need to stock up on hard drives and download everything now, not later.
>>526124104So long as I can have my 216 PPP cream-gushing tiddies, I'm okay with that.
>>526128154I needed some storage and was pissed when I saw what happened to prices since I last bought. I managed to find two drives totaling 40TB for $430 and that was the best I could do.
>>526128393What's your backup plan?
>>526124216Same
>>526124104It's okay. I built a new gaming rig in May with a big beefy 64gigs of RAM and I typically make a new build every 4-5 years. The last system lasted 4.5 years. If I have to use this one a little longer that won't be an issue. I have Windows 10 Enterprise LTCS anyway so I'm good until 2032 if I have to really stretch it.
>>526124216>It's good enough to emulate all the way up to ps3Based. You don't need anything more.
>>526126883How's that tech Reich working out for you guys hah
Why can't market forces fix this fake supply issue? Sanction the fuck out of samsung. Nuke south korea.
Why should I care about having the beefiest computer in terms of hardware when the games released for about a decade now are all absolute GARBAGE?Why do I need 200 TB of ram to play a game from 1996?
>>526124104Not buying your bags. That retarded bullshit is already ending it the signs are everywhere.
>>526124104That's 55 YearsHow old will you be in 5 years?Think of all the things that will happen in that span of timeWill you need RAM for any of those things? You might not be able to do them now
>>526124735Just stop being poor. Obviously the worst thing you can be in our society is poor. You could be a demigod and no one would give a fuck.>>526127272Yeah. I felt it.>>526126231All you need to do is give them different inputs. The LLM is just the speech. Anything else can be bolted on later. In 10 years you will have a LLM and it will have basic emotional "neurons" that can feel pleasure and pain, develop preferences. The bubble is not popping. Once real innovation happens and computer power increases there will be more than just a talking word processor with an encyclopedia.
>>526124104You know you're a Luddite old fart when the first thought that pops in your head is "greedy Italian fucks"...
>>526128635Basically a shitload of drives with two copies of everything. I don't have the interest level to set up a NAS or anything like that. I'm also burning like crazy (DVDs are cheap and plentiful in thrift stores still) and trying to flag the stuff I've burned so I can delete one copy if I need the room on the HDD.
>>526124104I guess it's a good thing I had to buy new sticks a couple years ago.
>>526124771what a fucking waste of good hardware
>>526124771>its probably just that the jews dont want people use local AIThats exactly whats going down.
>>526124216Don’t ever become a businessman. It’s not about what your stupid ass wants.
>>526124104Do you retards seriously still pay for ram? You do know you can literally download as much as you want for free…https://www.downloadmoreram.com/
>>526129283Its absolutely fucking retarded but tue memory was already allocated to these modules before the ram shortage. If ram prices get any higher I wouldn't be surprised if people started ripping these things apart in arbitrage.
>>526124104My computer is starting to bluescreen so I looked into prices for a new pc. Ram went from $100 for 32GB to $250. Fucking annoying.
>>526129494>from $100 for 32GB to $250Now imagine how frustrating it is trying to get ram with actually good timings. Fucking non-existent at this point. Two sticks of fast ram at 32gb a stick cost as much as a 5090.
>>526129640It's like $800 a 5090 is several thousand.
>>526124104there is no shortage, the 3 companies that make memory intentionally cut supply last january.they could make more chips, but demand is so high they can just make less and charge more to the AI companies that will do absolutely anything to show growth.i recommend you buy all the PS5's you can get your hands on because they can be found for $250 and are extremely undervalued hardware that was recently unlocked.
>>526124104How is this Trump's fault you retard? The AI bumrush was already happening with these companies. Trump didn't suddenly go "buy even more of it guys". All these companies are doing this on a global scale regardless of what's happening in the US, you absolute mong.
>>526129640>>526129708>only several thousandsPour one out for all the homosexual on /g/ running homelabs or aspiring to build out nodes of enterprise hardware. Kiss whatever dreams you had of owning a local model goodbye forever. Multi-terabyte server grade motherboard applications? Sell your car, sell one of your fucking kidneys.
>>526129640It's so cooked, I thought things would get better after the GPU companies caught up to the crypto demand, but now AI is fucking with ram supply. Going to cost $2k for a mid gaming pc at this point.
>>526129708>It's like $800Good timings. I'm talking 8000mmhz at 28 cas latency. It doesn't fucking exist and if you find it expect to pay somewhere around three thousand dollars.
>>526124104Totally worth it. AI is best!
>>526129458>If ram prices get any higher I wouldn't be surprised if people started ripping these things apart in arbitrage.I could see that happening very easily, and it reinforces me opinion that the Tech & AI industries are a bubble that will burst catastrophically.
>>526129949>Going to cost $2k for a mid gaming pc at this point. The steam machine only has like 8gb of ram and 8gb of vram. So expect games to be complete slop for the next decade.Nobody cares about workstations anymore and everything is moving over to slim dummy terminals. Your average consumer is going to be stuck on a device that's running on the same server as their local high-school and they're not going to see anything wrong with that.
>>526124104>2031this might happena. you updoot and scum maliciously makes so that your ram overheatsnow you are without a machine or you have to pay $1400 for two sticksb. you dont updoot because you are paranoid knowing they are scumthey activate their malicious code and now you are part of botnet
>>526124104Big tech wants to eventually deprecate personal compute for a multitude of reasons.
>>526130437It's over.
>>526130244Its designed that way. Their building these days centers for the military under the guise of comercial public companies. When the buble bursts the government will come in and bail out the companies like they did with car manufacturers and banks in the 2008 crisis. After that they'll transfer whatever data centers did happen to be built into the hands of the military industrial complex. It's a corporate capitalist bubble that's designed to burst and offload all of it's real world output onto the mic. Think of it like JPL and NASA during the cold war.
>>52612812932GB DDR5 sigma race
>>526130437>So expect games to be complete slop for the next decadeActually I am hoping that the restriction results in better games and less emphasis on these gay ass "cutting edge graphics"
>>526130244The comment Elon made about AI being the radical tech that gets America out of debt made the whole thing crystal clear. It is in fact a bubble and they're throwing everything into it because nobody wants that reality of slowly paying things back while tightening our belts. Not only does that suck, but with the amount of foreigners here who only behave when they're paid to behave, we may not survive it.
>>526128129>>526130897128gb comfy race.
>>526131026Without ai us GDP growth is less than 1%
>>526124104oh no what will i do omg im cryin and shardin and fardin and shiddin
