Even with a wannabe-Milosevic president determined to create conflict for political benefit or other people actively trying to destablise your state, it would be really difficult to end up with something like the Yugo wars in the US.Ultimately even though your country has been going down the shitter for some time, there's more than enough profit to be had in keeping it semi-functional and semi-united.
