I have Medicare (because I am a neet on SSDI) and I have a Medigap supplement. It is the absolute best insurance in the world. I can go to 90% of doctors in the country with no referral, no pre-authorization, no cost-sharing, copays, or deductibles. I can go to the Mayo Clinic one day, Cleveland Clinic the next, or some orthopedic surgeon used by NFL players the next.Medicare is sweet but most boomers are dumbasses/poorfags and enroll in Medicare (dis)Advantage. John Oliver did a segment on these shitty plans and you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/Ejoi9yfLVCc Lesson: You or your loved ones MUST enroll in a Medicare supplement (aka “Medigap”) plan. You or your loved ones must NOT enroll in a Medicare (dis)Advantage plan. They typically are only able to do so during the first months after turning age 65.
>>526126781The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where "feed" and "seed" both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck".
Tell the folks in the back exactly how much Medicare costs per month. It isn't free. Old lady I knew had a 6k deductible and paid it out of pocket more than once.
>>526126781I have Medicaid and Medicare, the Medicaid covers the premium so I pay nothing and get the benefits of both medicare and medicaidPretty sure this is better than medigap, no?
>>526126781How can I find a doctor that's not a woman or an indian?
>>526126781My Mom's surgeon said the same thing. The "advantage" shit sounds cool on TV, like free money. He said they're quite generous with small shit like generic drugs, checkups, things like that, but they deny major things like you wouldn't believe. Yeah, get the supplement. The surgery my Mom got generated a bill for $386K (major spine surgery and a month in a rehab clinic), and her out of pocket share ended up being $1100, with just Medicare and the Humana supplement.

If you choose Plan G, it is only $283. >>526128402It is not as good as Medigap because where Medigap will automatically pays the remainder of Medicare approved bills, Medicaid will only do so for providers that accept Medicaid. From what I have been told, most doctors do not accept Medicaid. But if this is your only option, it isn’t bad. It is better than HMOs, for sure. >>526128463Read their names. >>526128746Based mom. Is she intelligent?
>>526129143She's a kick. I'm so fucking lucky, hearing horror stories about mens relationships with their mothers as years pass. She's not outwardly any kind of intellectual (and totally apolitical), but she can run a household better than anyone I've ever met, even to this day. I learned money management from her and that's served me better than four years of college ever did. She asks the right questions and is very persistent in achieving goals. Everyone wants to help her because she's so thoughtful and pleasant. I fixed her computer last weekend and went home with four dozen biscotti and a pork loin. A nice little island of sanity and serenity in my life.
>>526126781Bro I don’t want gibs from zog. I make my own way. Enjoy being in a wheelchair or whatever
>>526129622Interesting. The only people that I personally know who have Medigap are intelligent, however not all intelligent people I know have Medigap. I think it is greed or lead poising that makes boomers choose Medicare Advantage.
>>526130882Those boomer ads are continuous on the digital channel I watch (which is just cartoons). They really play up the you deserve this and you deserve that so it comes as no surprise they fall for it. My Mom's not immune to propaganda (neither am I), but knows it when she sees it. She got her information from talking to people and reading, not from TV ads, apps or the Internet, a lesson I most certainly noted.
