>>526198372Nah shutting down refineries isnt that much of a problem, an entire refinery can be shut down in 1 to 2 weeks and turn online in the same time, the biggest drag is temperature, processing units require time to slowly cool down or heat up to avoid temperature dilation/contraction leaks on pipe flanges.There is truth that shutting down a refinery in Puccia right now, especially an emergency shutdown can be a problem because asphalt will solidify at 30ºC and clog the pipes, once its solid... good luck getting that shit to move, it can take weeks to melt the entire pipe circuit but outside of that, its not a huge problem shutting down refineries, at least at technical level, money-wise losing 1 month of production... we are talking about hundreds of millions lost per month.Oil wells on the other hand... shutting down one of those its a problem, A HUGE problem, those cant be brought online in a week or two, it may take months, to stop a well you need to pour "mud" to seal the pores and then plug it with cement (or something similar) then you have to drill that plug and get rid of the "mud" to restart production and even then you can run into all kind of problems like the walls collapsing, cement clogs, mud mixing with oil, pressure changes etc etc etc. If the refineries stop, the oil wells will have to stop sooner or later too...Also take on account Monke got rid of most oil exploration geologists because they tought they had enough oil already and they were too expensive so the qualified and experienced folk went to BP, Shell, the Saudies etc to make big bucks while only a few remained there.
