What if the girl I’m seeing has bookshelves upon bookshelves of YA slop, Marxist shit, feminist shit, based history books (wtf), way too many biographies, alt lit, classics, every major world religion, and books on learning languages and music. Should I check to see if she’s a troon? I’m pretty sure she’s not. She cooks too well to be a tranny. But it’s scaring me a LOT.

I like physical books and bookstores. Love curling up with a good book and I love having good books available to everyone, especially public records, science, math, and useful stuff. Performative shit shelf.
I have more books than almost anyone ever, private collector turned seller as an excuse to get even more books.
Probably 20,000 books currently.
If you actually read, shelves don't look like that.
These are selected for aesthetic and never read.
99% chance.

>>
>>526201880
This is the shelf of someone that actually reads.
>>
>>526202660
This is just false and you are exactly the performative faggot you accuse others of being. A real reader knows the trick is to probe your host about their book shelf - ask them specific questions about the books they have, what their opinions are, shit test them with fake passages like “what did the author mean by this?” and see if they take the bait, etc.
>>
>>526202875
Nope.
Books are laying everywhere and in every position and NEVER all the same height, width, and color scheme like this.
The top shelves are literally out together in the same drab bindings for an appearance the person likes to LOOK at.

English major best friend reads nonstop.
Probably 2000 books.
They are stacked everywhere in all positions.

The reason is because if you read, actually read, you are constantly shuffling and laying one down and licking it up and really don't have time or interest in stacking them all neatly.

But the biggest giveaway is the uniformity of size and color scheme.
I have shoppers that come in SPECIFICALLY for this purpose and I'll help them find an olive, soft yellow, maroon, navy grouping or some such.
They literally don't even care what the book is.
Cope.

Some people read a book once, and stack it neatly with the rest. Some people are so Type A (me) that everything they’ve read has a specific order, either by size, title, category, or even color. Some people are actually not disgusting slobs. The truth is, I’ve been surprised by people with bookshelves like this, who can quote long passages of any selected book and get very defensive about them. You are just a nigger with dirty nigger habits.

no you don't. when was the last time you were even IN someones house that wasn't your parent's house?

>>
>>526203187
Have to agree with this. If you look at Op's picture, you'll see the shelves are "bolt on" types with no supporting bracket underneath. They are notoriously weak and no self respecting book lover would use them because the weight of some books would cause them to collapse. Like the books, the shelves were chosen for the look.
My shelves are heaving. Some books are just stuffed on top of the books on the shelf because that's the only place to put them.. Next to the shelf there is a stack of books on the floor. I have a mini-stack of four books on the table next to me as I speak. It's a mess, and I don't have room for another shelf.
Op's picture house is the sort of person who has one of those rotating spice racks in their kitchen, most of which they've never even opened, let alone cooked with.

Post shelf.
Shelf post.

Books ranged as ideograms, spines a procession
of ideograms against the wall's white void,
dust motes dancing like ideogrammic particles
in the light of the screen's false sun.

Librum est monumentum aere perennius?
No—post it, mortal, lest it perish
in the unindexed dark.

Send the shelf forth upon the electric river,
where Usura hath not yet wholly corrupted
the image, though the algorithm feeds
on attention's usury.

Let the spines speak: Homer, then Cavalcanti,
then the brown economists, then the black-bound
Confucius, then the bright paperbacks
of yesterday's ephemera.
No order is final.
Post shelf.

Let the gaze wander as in Pisa's cage,
where light struck the page
and memory struck the mind.
What thou lovest well remains,
even pixelated, even hashtagged #bookshelf
even if the server farm in some cold elsewhere
decides tomorrow to purge the unprofitable ghosts.

Post shelf.
Make it new.
(Or at least make it visible.)
The rest is silence, save for the scroll.

Bookfags are insufferable. You could count on one hand in a hundred, those who actually read meaningful books by respected authors, which changed their perspective and gave a life lesson or a takeaway, and said bookfag can recite something from their favourite book. Otherwise it's all a larp and a way to feel superior to "plebs" while being no better.

I know it sounds hardcore to say that physical books are so much better and that you like the look and the feel so much that you can't live without it but the fact is that they're not. Reading physical books in 2026 is like listening to vinyl records and cassette tapes. A Kindle is lighter than all but the thinnest books, more comfortable to hold in your hand, doesn't need external lighting, can hold thousands of books and as many dictionaries as you wish to install in it. Books which in some cases can't be obtained in physical form. For larger formats such as textbooks the same could be said about an iPad.

Pull it off the shelf and read your favorite passage before bed, faggot? The fact is books are read and then placed on a shelf for what reason? No one goes back and rereads them. Cue the faggots saying durr I do. Hoarder shit

Most normalfags don't read. And when they do, it's utter pleb slop. Nonetheless I invariably inspect their bookshelves. Pic related is mine.

I spent the last summer in Cabourg. Had more madeleines than I could count. 40% of the books being read on the beach were Proust, lol

All yours? Chemical engineering or something. I was guessing you might have a wife, but you’re here so … Only red flag is the lack of fiction, but lots of millennials don’t read fiction. Were you Econ undergrad by any chance? Anyway nice shelf. Sirens of titan, newtons principia, well rounded

nice. loeb is price prohibitive especially at used bookstores. oxford is easy to come by far but i've found university press editions to be the best value second hand.

None of them look used. My guitars get picked up and played every day. They are dinked, scratched, worn and covered in fingerprints. The fretboard on my strat is practically worn through.
Yours look showroom clean. There is zero wear, even on the fretboard. It's a display, not a toolbox.

Thanks for complimenting the shelf

dead·wood

>durrr us book readers are just so quirky and in love with reading we can't stop picking up and putting down books in random places and order durrr we're just too enlightened and enthralled by knowledge to order our bookshelves you just wouldn't understand what it's like to absorb the knowledge of 15 books at the same time durrr
You're so full of shit. Being messy has nothing to do with how much of a "reader" you are dipshit, it just means you don't care to maintain a tidy bookshelf
>>526204647

OP doesn't have any books retard, it's a random image he found on google. You're clearly a facebook boomer transplant to this site so the obvious fact that this is a 1pbtid bait thread is lost on you because you're the exact sort of low quality poster that these threads are baiting for.

Anons, have you read Moby DIck? It doesn't deserve the pop culture status as a dry tome, its actually a really good tightly paced novel with an actual emphasis on alliterative wordplay and prose meter. It reads like someone on cocaine wrote it on a bender.
