De Gaulle is every wrong with the French people distilled into one person.
I actually like France just De Gaulle is a spiteful loser.

France is only afloat today because it has a mass of nuclear power energy plants which De Gaulle sponsored
De Gaulle exited NATO
De Gaulle fought to make sure that France maintained both strong agriculture and strong industry, to be one of the world's few truly independent nations, having all 3 of energy, self-grown food and industry
he is under-rated

De Gaulle's 4th armor battles May 1940 are legendary. Probably the only effective counter attacks against the german blitzkrieg. Forced retreats. Gave more time and space to the forces trapped at dunkirk. Real brave, gutsy guy. Hence why the allies signed him up to lead the free french forces.

He tip-toed the line between sucking jewish cock and being their opponent, trying to save what could be without making himself a target for replacement by a full kike sucker.
Would have it been better if he fought alongside Pétain and won? Of course, he himself knew it. He also knew there was no good ending to WW2 for France after Hitler rejected Pétain's offer to join the Axis, so he did everything he could for the least bad ending possible.

I don't like him and what he did, but I can respect that he did the best he could with the hand he got instead of trying to be a hero and faceplant everything.

?
De gaulle led 2 battles under the 4th armor before being relieved of command, Montcornet and Abbeville. Montcornet is called a victory in wikipedia which is laugable because the total sum of the battle is french tanks pushed an offensive and suffered heavy losses while taking minimal territory before being forced to retreat, and then the next day de gaulle was convinced that he could take the town with more tanks and reinforced with double the number of tanks by taking them from surrounding divisions only for the offensive to completely fail as all of the tanks were lost to german air support that had been rerouted to the area. Abbeville cant even be defended - de gaulle announced a premature victory and then ordered his troops to return, abandoning their positons and letting the germans return unopposed to capure its key bridges on the river somme while stranding the british troops in the area to start the fighting retreat that would eventually become dunkirk. De gaulle was stripped of his command two days later and reassigned as a war undersecretary delivering papers.

I don't know what your angle is, but he was promoted to undersecretary of war because he actually showed how mechanized warfare could succeed at Montcornet. Yes, german air superiority would ultimately be the deciding factor, but his extra force was ordered westward mid-may, regardless.

I've learned enough about De Gaulle that even if he didn't actually say it, he would have agreed with the sentiment had it been presented to him. He was always ungrateful for American salvation, and when he got the chance to undermine the USA (with the gold stuff), he took it with glee. He's literally the precipitating factor for the USA leaving the gold standard in the 1970s.

The US was also massively infiltrated with soviet/communist agents by the time WW2 kicked off. McCarthy tried to root them out and they killed him. Read Blacklisted by History, the sheer scale of it is sickening. And they never were rooted out, either. The enshittification of the US government over the 20th century was directly caused by communist subversion.
