Are there any practicing Hindus on this board? I mean people who actually believe in Hinduism and worship the gods, not just people who consider themselves culturally Hindu.

I just can't get my head around polytheism, something about it seems so impossible to my anglo brain. Do you actually just believe there are a bunch of humanoid gods living up in the heavens chatting and hanging out with each other? Sometimes they just come down to Earth and fuck about with humans because they're bored? And one of them is a monkey and one of them has an elephant head, for some reason?

Indra and his light-skinned friends conquer the land
>“He (Indra), much invoked, hath slain Dasyus and Simyus, after his want, and laid them low with arrows. The mighty Thunderer with his fair-complexioned friends won the land, the sunlight, and the waters. May Indra evermore be our protector, and unimperilled may we win the booty” [RV Hymn C, 18–19]

Aryan invaders slay “darksome creatures”:
>“Day after day far from their seat he (Indra) drove them, alike, from place to place, those darksome creatures. The Hero slew the meanly-huckstering Dasas, Varcin and Sambara, where the waters gather.” [RV 6.47.21]

The Aryans drive out a “dusky brood”:
>SING, with oblation, praise to him who maketh glad, who with Rjisvan drove the dusky brood away. Fain for help, him the strong whose right hand wields the bolt, him girt by Maruts we invoke to be our Friend. [RV 1. 101. 1]

Indra conquers to spread the might and glory of the Aryans:
>Armed with his bolt and trusting in his prowess he wandered shattering the forts of Dasas. Cast thy dart, knowing, Thunderer, at the Dasyu; increase the Arya's might and glory, Indra. [RV 1. 103. 3]

The aboriginals of India are cursed with “dusky skin”
>Indra in battles help his Aryan worshipper, he who hath hundred helps at hand in every fray, in frays that win the light of heaven. Plaguing the lawless he gave up to Manu's seed the dusky skin; Blazing, 'twere, he burns each covetous man away, he burns, the tyrannous away. [RV 1. 130. 8]

The “swarthy fifty thousand” are defeated:
>Thou to the son of Vidathin, Rjisvan, gavest up mighty Mrgaya and Pipru. Thou smotest down the swarthy fifty thousand, and rentest forts as age consumes a garment. [RV 4. 16. 13]

Indra hates “swarthy skin”:
>O'er Sire and Mother they have roared in unison bright with the verse of praise, burning up riteless men, blowing away with supernatural might from earth and from the heavens the swarthy skin which Indra hates
TL;DR: drugs&racism

HYMN XCVI Indra
>8. At the swift draught the Soma-drinker waxed in might, the Iron One with golden beard and golden hair.
>9 His golden jaws, like ladles move apart, what time, for strength, he makes the gold-tinted stir,
>When, while the bowl stands there, he grooms his Tawny Steeds, when he hath drunk strong drink, the sweet juice that he loves.
Pajeet saars why is Indra blond? Why does he drink milk when poos are lactose intolerant?

The Sanskrit word that describes Indra’s hair and beard is "Hari" (हरि) meaning yellow or golden. The Sanskrit name for yellow turmeric is Haridra. The name for the one who removes all darkness and replaces it with light is Hari one of Vishnus avatars. Hari also refers to animals with golden fur, such as lions.
The same Indo-European root word is *ǵʰel- meaning "golden/to shine". This is where the Germanic word for Gold, Guld, and even Finnish derivatives like Kulta comes from.
Munis wore yellow robes as tribute to Indra because it’s the same colour as his hair and beard.

>gods living up in the heavens

exiting the Abrahamic framework, it takes a while to understand this
the 'gods' and 'goddesses' are there in creation along with all sorts of other spirits and beings, as one can see if eyes are truly open
we humans in our limits cannot relate or know all of them or even most of them
you relate to the ones that help your spiritual growth, which may be gods and goddesses of your own culture, and not the Hindu Indian ones
there is nothing 'binding' here, or some terror you have if you don't know or worship one god or another
you just have respect for what is spiritual, and accept that for now, much is beyond us ... you link to spirits, gods and goddesses when you are ready

>Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be
- Krishna to warrior Arjuna, in the Bhagavad-Gita

Could be true in some clever, hands-off AI-heavy layer of the simulation.

We're boring people though for the most part. Whatever makes life interesting is worth a footnote at least.

Soma! Then gods enter you and they have fun killing impious darkies and then they bless you like berserkers and such. Drugs and racism. Fun with bros. Its not boring if you do it right.
