The funniest thing about Canada's "China deal" is that Canada has literally nothing China needs or wants. They don't need their oil, except maybe as tar for paving roads (because Canadian oil-sands crude is basically sludge, it needs special refining to turn into useable petroleum that only the US has refineries for.), but even then the only pipeline Canada has to the Pacific doesn't carry enough per day to meet even 1% of China's needs. And they don't need their agriculture at all, they don't need Canadian wood because they have Siberia. So really, the whole thing was that China offered to buy some shitty products it doesn't need for cut rates, in exchange for basically being free to set up their own business lines in Canada (selling them EVs means you need service centers, parts, chargers, etc., all which China will bring in and sell to the consumer at markup). And the funniest part is, all of the EVs that Canada is going to be getting? They're literally old-stock using unsafe batteries and systems that CHINA LITERALLY JUST PASSED A LAW BANNING THE SALE OF because they explode and start massive battery fires. So essentially Canada is taking the junk cars that were legally meant to go to the scrapyard in China, but now are going to be sold as premium new product.
