What is desire to purchase greenland even about? I think it's about using greenland as a potential future foothold into Europe and Russia, and into the artic, with the notion possibly of abandoning intervening or even supporting in european affairs altoghter after possessing it. And I don't think venezuela was purely for oil, but also as a foothold into south america and Africa (potentially), with the general notion of mainting global integrity and power via these.

It's to do with the pathology of Trump. No doubt, if he gets greenland he'll change the name to "Trumpland" or something retarded. He has even said this. Everybody knows Greenland would sign any deal to allow whatever America wanted to place there. But Trump is... Trump.

It's in our hemisphere, and we can't let anyone outside of our hemisphere control it. The US has wanted it for centuries, but especially now after gay globalism has died we're going into a period of great power competition and the other great powers want to control a foothold in our hemisphere and that cannot be allowed.
>>526298120
Yeah, if Europe was powerful and our allies, we might tolerate Greenland not being ours. But they're pathetically weak and they hate us, as these 50 threads a day prove, so we must take it from them. And they're going to let us, because they're weak.

Trade routes and rare earths mostly.
The military positioning that Greenland would offer against Russia, China, and Europe is just a bonus.
Yes, Europe. We're positioning to treat you like a hostile entity. Which you will be as your governments and people die from replacement migration.
The US has less and less reason to patrol the world's sea routes as well, so anyone not within our sphere of influence is going to suffer as global trade breaks down.
Taking Greenland is quite literally more beneficial to the US in the long run then remaining in the good graces of the entire European continent.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIUK_gap

It's this. China wins Taiwan by having multiple fronts ongoing at once. Think Israel-Iran, South America, Russia-Eastern Europe, etc. Everything has been coming to a head ever since we started dumping billions into a stalemate in Ukraine.

Trump knows this and is actively taking pieces off the board one at a time. Regime change in Venezuela needed to happen because they were claiming territory in Guyana and that'd put another warfront. That's why we're pushing regime change in Iran now.

I'm not sure if we're actually aiming for ownership of Greenland, or if we just want Europe to put troops there so it's a non-issue. The way Trump is handling it is weird, possibly a distraction. Or maybe he is really losing his mind.
>>
>>526297453

Certainly we want to maintain access to any and all mineral resources that may become more valuable in the future as current deposits are mined out (which we have plenty of). But it's more about the waters around Greenland, where there's quite a lot of oil, and increasing amounts of trade. Russian and Chinese ships have been moving in there more, and we want the option of being able to cut them off, while they never are allowed to have the ability to cut us off.
Why is Trump kick China out of Panama? Is there a lot of oil in Panama? Rare earths? No, it's about the chokepoint. Under globalist rule, the US military has been going around defending Europe's chokepoints for decades, which really was never in our interests and meanwhile China and Russia started encroaching on all of our own chokepoints. Think of Greenland as Gibraltar.
>>526299636
Trump's been talking about Greenland since his first term. It's not new or related to any new issues. And the US has wanted Greenland for centuries. It's just become more of a pressing need since the rise of China.

It’s to jolt NATO members into holding up their end of the deal wrt defense spending. It has nothing to do with NATO or defense.
Denmark and Greenland already give the USA carte blanche to do basically whatever they want in Greenland. They can build bases, ports, station troops, build radar and missile bases, etc. There is no opposition to this and there has never been any since the 1950s. Greenland is almost uninhabited. The USA does not gain any military capability it didn't have already by annexing Greenland.
What it does gain is mineral resources.

A survey in 2023 showed that Greenland has significant deposits of 23 different critical raw materials. It has one of the largest deposits of rare-earths outside of China.
These include:
-copper
-graphite
-nickel
-titanium
-tungsten
-numerous rare-earth elements like terbium and neodymium

This shit is all used in hi-tech applications and, of course, AI data centers. Trump just wants to seize those resources and exploit them to compete with CHYNA. It's part of his completely retarded plan (have a look how those Intel data centers are doing) to start building chips in the USA so he can give Taiwan the finger and duck out on yet another ally.

It's a complete farce. He just wants the minerals without having to pay the EU or share with them. Whatever he's planning to pay the Greenlanders for the island is as astronomically less than what he thinks he can get from the minerals.

>>526300232
Why would the US want to keep transferring military tech to unreliable soon-to-be-a-caliphate "allies"? The Europoors should make their own military tech. It'll be just as garbage as Russian and Chinese tech, and thus good enough to hold off Russia but won't pose any threat to the US during any eventuality where the US might need to fight Europoors again. The US market for military spending is increasing dramatically and will more than make up for any loss in orders from Europe. The US MIC is plenty happy to sacrifice the pathetic European market if it means the US building up to Cold War levels again, and there's still plenty of customers in the Pacific and Middle East.

I mean, not to mention that Greenland isn't just uninhabited, developing the area is a fool's errand unless it warms up. There's a reason the land is littered with abandoned US based.
Mining rare earth minerals is dirty business and will just make it even less habitable, unless they invest a fuck ton in waste removal from an isolated arctic island.

>>
the logic is that NATO is doomed and it's failure is a given.
the US wants to secure Greenland before that happens.
>>
>>526300759
Now do a map of the US. None of that is necessary. It's about the water routes, the chokepoints, and the readily-available oil under the ocean floor that various nations are trying to exploit.
President Trump may be thinking long term, like 150 years into the future when it's a lot easier for us to get at those minerals. Certainly Alaska was not immediately useful but has become a major strategic reserve of useful things in the present. But the urgency in acquiring Greenland today is not because he wants to buy at a low price and profit big long after we're all gone. It's about who gets to control the sea lanes that are of strategic importance in any future war between the US and another great power.

THIS.
And possibly also minerals (rare earths) and oil. Trump knows something is coming down the pipe and Greenland needs to be up and running before that something fully starts.

It reminds me of these retarded electric cars. They suck in almost every conceivable way, but even under Trump they are not being abandoned altogether. It makes more sense when you realize there are 180 petroleum refineries in North America, but just 10 of them account for 70% of all gasoline production. In a catastrophe (especially a war) gasoline would become severely rationed, while electrotard vehicles (that can be charged at a home with solar panels) will be worth their weight in gold.

>>526300512
>M8 if asteroids are raining down then we all have bigger problems than shipping routes.
Some problems can cause other, simmering, problems to explode, like how all of Europe can explode into war because of one Serb with a gun and grudge.

Continual medium sized asteroids could cut (long) trade routes and make "food insecure" nations desperate enough to start wars for food.

Oh, you're a retard. You really should consider killing yourself. This only weakens the US position by threatening the most powerful military organization in support of US hegemony. NATO has been the fulcrum upon which we have been able to threaten/contain Russia and China to this point. The mere threat of a Ukraine joining NATO lead Russia into a panty twisting tizzy. Now with US 3rd Fleet re-deploying from Indo-China theater to Mid-East d/t Iran, this is a perfect time for China to consider a dash across the Taiwan Strait.

How are we 11 years into this and people still don't understand Donald Trump? It's gotta be willful at this point. He's an open book but you retards just refuse to try to understand the man. Trump doesn't limit himself, ever. You ask him if he's open to growing wings and flying to Saturn and he'll say that nothing is off the table. You ask him if he's ruled out using the US military to take Greenland by force, he'll say no. That doesn't mean that's his first, second, third, or 100th option. It just means he is not going to limit the scope of his choices and give potential adversaries any way to pin him down, especially not in an impromptu press conference while negotiations with the actual players are ongoing. The media knows they can get a lot of headlines out of this by asking him questions about all sorts of outlandish scenarios, but you retards keep believing the fake news that spawns even though it's obvious what the game is to anyone with an above room temperature IQ.
Trump wants the things he wants and he's willing to make any sort of deal that gets him what he wants and doesn't lose him anything he doesn't want to lose. His mind is open to whatever possibilities might arise. You ask him if he's open to taking Greenland by force and he's not imagining a big invasion of Greenland against Europeans in some great US vs. Europe WW3. He's imagining needing to use force to keep China or Russia out of Greenland after Denmark's two dogsleds have surrendered, after which he's open to keeping the place in order to keep China and Russia out of there for good. And that's a scenario he's actively trying to avoid, which is why he's buying the place instead.
But you're all so retarded you just hear what you want to hear, as the media manipulates you for clicks, to fulfill whatever deranged fantasies your egos require as you #resist the orange man.

How else is this supposed to be understood than as a threat, if Denmark is not willing to sell the island? You making all these excuses to excuse the rhetoric from Trump and Vance is pretty funny. There is no need to speak to allies and friends with such rhetoric unless you don't see them as allies and friends.

Trump wants to be in the history books for the 51st state.

The USA has been trying to purchase Greenland ever since Denmark was gifted the fucking island. Greenland is home to a few hundred Inuits that don't even want to be part of Denmark, or the USA, but lack the population to function as an independent country. Greenland is insanely important to American shipping and arctic defense.

I don't know why Trump is risking going to war with Nato when the status quo has worked just fucking fine, unless going to war with Europe is the idea.

Anyone who brings up rare earths is fucking stupid. "Rare earth" isn't fucking rare. The US just lacks the infrastructure that China has to process it.

Now why would a sovereign ask a permission from a vassal? Especially from a weak, stupid and impotent vassal who has willingly destroyed with every other major power in the world just to please his sovereign. Doesn't make any goddamn sense to ask euro vassals anything, their lot is to cope, seethe and obey.

>There is no need to speak to allies and friends with such rhetoric unless you don't see them as allies and friends.
Oh good you're finally getting it. Europeans haven't acted like America's allies or friends. Hence the urgent need for America to act in its own self-defense and protect its key chokepoints before something bad happens and we're forced to blow up half the world with nuclear weapons. We don't want a nuclear war, so we must deter the threats we're facing. Europe is helping our enemies in that potential conflict almost as fast as they're committing suicide over libtard ideology so we cannot rely on them as part of our deterrence strategy.
>You making all these excuses to excuse the rhetoric from Trump and Vance is pretty funny.
It's not rhetoric, it's the starting negotiating position. America wants Greenland. All options are on the table at the start of a negotiation. Everyone in business understands this. So what kind of a deal is Europe willing to make? Do you want a mutually beneficial outcome or an outcome where America gets everything and Europe gets nothing? I know what Europeans are saying in public is a bunch of delusional nonsense that can only lead to them getting nothing, but in private they are all negotiating the best deal they can get, as they should, from their position of weakness. You're just a retard online who doesn't understand what's actually happening, and believing the most absurd fake news they're clickbaiting you with because you don't like the orange man.

>muh precedents
The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. That has always been the case. Every country has already always been acting in their own best interests, as they see it, in a state of anarchy with each other. You're just mad that the US actually is capable of doing whatever it wants and European countries haven't since WW2 or before. The US (perhaps foolishly) tried to act like a benevolent dictator, allowing weak European states to pretend they were equal partners with the global hegemon. But that has been a fiction for over 80 years. The US for most of that was ruled by silly liberals who did things for appearances. They believed in global institutions and holding hands singing kumbaya and all that other retarded shit. Countries not ruled by libtards, believing in raw power above all else, took advantage, and proved the whole thing unsustainable. The world was not better for it.
Well, that era is over. America learned its lesson. America is going to play by the old rules, before all that retardation, and those who are also willing to live in that reality or already have been will absorb or make puppets of those that only want to live in the modern fantasy. It will be emotionally damaging to the weak, but they will ultimately suffer what they must.

Just because Trump says so doesn't mean it's true. Like you said it's all a dumb negotiation tactic to appear strong for the voter base and for internal politics. When I'm buying something from a friend I don't usually start the negotiation by saying physical violence isn't off the table.

It does have a certain irony watching magatards using climate change (which doesn't exist) to rationalise an attempted imperial land grab.
>>
>>526305479
It's not because Trump is saying it. Trump was elected in large part because he was the first to say what we already all knew to be the case. And we knew it to be the case because of public data. That was particularly inflaming because of European attitudes. We kicked our retarded liberals to the curb because they weren't doing what needs to be done. So now we have Trump who is doing what needs to be done.
The negotiating tactic is not to appear strong to the voter base. The voters aren't involved in this at all. There's no need for that. It's just actual, readily-apparent strength, that European leaders are seeing and privately acknowledging as they fly to D.C. to bend the knee. They're working out a deal this very week to try and save face. Depending on how that goes, the options on the table will be eliminated or executed. But one way or another, the US will get what it wants.
