Many don’t remember that it started with protests in Slovenia and that there was a woman killed for protesting that sparked larger calls for Slovenian independence. Later the Serb government, instead of calming tensions, decided to focus on greater Serbia. This in turn pushed other republics away. While I don’t see an American civil war erupting on ethnic lines because of the mess it is, the protests and pushback from governors will create state lines. An invasion of Greenland would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Many are too dismissive of this here and treat it like a joke. It’s a 180 on US strategy since WWII.For context, I served as a new draft for the JRM at Split for 4 months before I was called back home early and then the war started. There was some economic hardship but it wasn’t very different from right now here. Nobody on the ground expected a war. My village was besieged so I was offered to come to the US.

I'm from the US (I live in Canada now, obviously) and while I'm willing to accept your observations as true, do realize that the political factions in the US that could spark a civil war or some kind of separatism are too weak and disorganized to pull anything off. "Antifa" is not a group but an ideology. Both the far-left and far-right in the US are factional in themselves and couldn't do all that much.
There's also the thing that Trump and his people are not exactly trying to avoid division and polarization, both domestically and internationally. Who knows how far they'll go.
