The concept of these stings is downright schizophrenic. There’s no victim, just the police (or random guys) pretending to be sexually precocious young people. How can you solicit sex from a minor when there is no minor involved? “Is the child victim in the room with us now?” The idea is that the people being arrested are a danger to society. But then at the heart of this line of thought is the admission that these men aren’t guilty of a crime. They’re being punished for what they could have done, or what they might do someday, not what their actions.
