Any source that wants to tell their audience what to do at a large scale is inherently collectivist (they control collective behaviour).Within collectivism, you can be permitted to lead or to follow, but you must do one of the two. If a decision is made together (democratically for example), then you are leading and following.Collectivism really opposes independence. Naturally some collectivism is needed ot make society work, just not too much.
