Why are Western nations continuing to cut their nose to spite their face, in defiance of the United States? Moving closer to China harms their economic prospects, and only benefits China. This is all by design. China strategically prioritizes domestic purchases and resource acquisition from their "partners" and it's only ever in terms favorable to China, never the resource rich nations.

Seems like greater, intentional self-sabotage.

you could literally say the exact same things for the United States

There's clearer equality in partnerships with the US. The US was effectively subsidizing the militaries to European nations, meaning that they could coast on not paying for those expenses, allowing them to focus on other things. China, on the other hand, creates (albeit smarter) high interest loans on substandard quality military equipment, that falls to shit when the countries need it the most (see Venezuela).

That's just a really corporate way of saying "Occupying their countries with our military, thus forcing them to obey us"

Does it really? Can you actually articulate this?
