China will obviously be the biggest global potency in a few years so i wanna learn Mandarin.
The thing is: how do i start?
And how long does it take to be able to read it? Not speak, just read. Once i learned to read english it was easy to work out the rest. Hope its the same with chinese.

My thread on /int/ got deleted so im posting it here.

Difference between China and Japan is that China can restructure its economic and exploit its labor force at will in ways Japan never could. China will escape any future deflationary scenario much faster through industrial policy and because the world needs it to more.

Learn vocab with anki first, then start reading. Do not waste time on bullshit resources and reddit advice, wallowing in the mindset of "too difficult" condemns you to eternal inability to learn the language. It's incomprehensible at first, but it will make sense in three months, and in a year, reading normal text won't be much of an issue.

reading is actually easy, you just have to recite bunch of basic characters..and learn the pattern of the structures. but i don't know how would you remember the characters without sound. so i think you'd still have to learn how to speak it, and that's the hard part
chinese grammar is piss easy tho
