I just realized that before Moore's Law, semiconductors and factories were primarily for making weapons and war-machinery. The reason we ended up with computers and games is because shutting down semiconductor production was silly so repurposing would keep people working, and finances flowing. With that in mind, maybe they're lying about the Datacenters? What if they're not actually taking all the chipmakers over to the cloud but secretly hoarding them to stop making computers to make stuff for the army again?

What is DARPA?

well people like Bezos are saying people will buy computing services from the cloud and will only own thin clients with little memory or processing power. That seems like where the industry is headed.
