Can't speak for other Euros but in the UK you'll split people down a lot of lines. Scots aren't British, they're Scots. Same for Welsh and English and the Northern Irish who are Irish except technically not due to borders. Even though a lot of us call ourselves English some of us won't actually have Angles heritage. Going further, we have the whole norf/souf rivalries and divide.That's just one country hastily explained. Thousands of years of history, battles, war, journeying have forged our nations and ethnicity. Americans sadly do not have anything close to that and will not for a long time.
