Kash knows what's on your computer

https://techcrunch.com/2026/01/23/microsoft-gave-fbi-a-set-of-bitlocker-encryption-keys-to-unlock-suspects-laptops-reports/

(((Cloud))) computing is an extension of state monopoly on force

>But, by default, BitLocker recovery keys are uploaded to Microsoft’s cloud, allowing the tech giant — and by extension law enforcement — to access them and use them to decrypt drives encrypted with BitLocker, as with the case reported by Forbes.

All I have on my laptop is mutt memes
>>
>>526788339
>stored keys can be accessed
Imagine my shock!
Why would I use Windows and BitLocker on a PC meant to do bad shit?
>>
>>526788339
That's how warrants work
>>

He's all coked up look at my tranny porn.

>>526788339
That's what they get for using Microslop.
>>
>>526788339
Apple keys are uploaded to iCloud by default too.
It takes directed effort to not get snatched by this
>>
>>526788386
Even so, you cannot guarantee that what's legal and normal on your PC today won't be declared illegal tomorrow; nor that it won't be retroactive, nor that it will even be legitimate or judicial. This story is just what's publicized. Imagine what MI6 or MI5 would do to a dissident's computer remotely if they knew they would never be caught. One hopes they only use such powers for good, like putting nonces away.

>>526788339
Is VeraCrypt safe? That's what I use with the key hidden physically on a thumb drive.

Absolutely incredible. Another reminder that you must use OSS for everything, otherwise you're just a stooge.
>>
>>526788708
Yeah, it is.
>>
>>526788591
directed effort, as in, using linux
>>
>>526788708
Are you using an input file that's on the thumb drive? Or do you just have the password plaintext on the drive somewhere?
I have never used a keyfile before, but it feels weird to me that the gov't can just try running all my files through it and eventually get in to my drive.
I've just memorized a retarded long string of digits and numbers and I use that for veracrypt. BTW it's just pictures of an ex girlfriend and some AI gens I made that I'd be embarrassed as shit if anyone found.
But still, I figure someday I'm going to be traveling and they're going to go "we need to inspect your laptop sir" and I'll be grilled over the 30GB file with no clear purpose. I don't know how far off that level of surveillance/suspicion really is at this point. That or they misinterpret something I say as a threat and decide they want to fuck my life up. Who knows?
Have you ever heard of a key phrase? Just memorizing something stupid like:
>My favorite memory is the time I went fishing with my dad in Michigan
It's way too long to ever be brute forced, but extremely easy to remember. I'd switch to something like that if I didn't have my trusty long string of alphanumeric characters.

It is and the glowniggers wish you didn't know of its existence.

Its not default for bitlocker, its the ONLY choice for bitlocker. Apple its optional.

Its as good and easy to use as your going to get. Im surprised this Im hearing /pol/ talk about it. Its cross platform, secure by default. Encrypt drives or make hidden virtual drive files with it you mount.
>>
>>526788339
>by default, BitLocker recovery keys are uploaded to Microsoft’s cloud
so dont upload them, retard? it just proves there no backdoor or exploit. ie you need actual keys
>>
>>526789933
This. Don't create a Microsoft account and backup to the cloud like a fucking retard.
>>
>>526789709
Maybe... don't be a terrorist?

It's actually somewhat hilarious to see how many guys are getting busted uploading - er - contraband to MS, Google, Apple cloud products.
I think there was an internet famous guy - maybe a streamer? About a year ago, who just auto-sync'd his desktop to Google Drive and oopsied himself into prison.
I don't know why I find that so fucking hilarious. I think the guy even realized what he'd done and still got busted. Imagine doing that and then not nuking all of your drives.
>>
>>526790494
Or as an alternative, just be a decent fuckin person and not be a piece of shit. All I'm saying if you're going to be a piece of shit, don't be a fucking retard.
>>
>>526788339
does this come as a surprise to anyone?

>Is VeraCrypt safe? That's what I use with the key hidden physically on a thumb drive.

No, it isn't.

The software VeraCrypt is based on was cracked by the NSA.

But don't listen to me ;) I'm sure it's safe this time!

I love how you put this up as a hypothetical when it's the most basic shit they do all the time.
>>
>>526790698
>But don't listen to me
No one should, you don't have a fucking clue.
The greymarket exploit bounty on cracking Veracrypt is millions of dollars, and you're fucking retarded if you think underlying ciphers like AES is broken, it would destroy the internet overnight.
>>
>>526790832
He's probably thinking of TrueCrypt which has been defunct for more than a decade. Vera and Bit are fine, just protect or nuke the keys.
>>
>>526788339
I bet the keys secretly upload even if you "disable" the function.
>>
>>526790698
If you manage to break AES let the MI6 know tey probably want to hire you.
>>

Every mainstream OS (including popular linux distributives) is a spyware by design (always was) and should be treated accordingly.

Moreover, every piece of hardware (like CPUs and GPUs) has a glowie backdoor.

You just don’t put any REALLY sensitive data on anything connected to the internet. Glowniggers and military practice this approach for decades.

See Epstein who had pen and paper for this kind of data, and not because he was a retrograde.
>>
>>526791398
Well to be fair if a state level actor is wasting resources on me and willingly exposing these extremely valuable backdoors, no amount of effort could save my ass from being put through a fake politically motivated trial followed by completely legal isolation torture in max security.

I think all I can reasonably do while living a normal life is being uninteresting enough to not be a target while having just enough security to make it unprofitable to be pursued even if they ever had a reason to do so.

retired DEA here. Once, we had a big meth/fent bust a few years back, made the papers too. Anyway, the cartel folks used really old computers to keep track of stuff. Something called a 'commodoor pet' and some other 80s computers like the brown one with tan keys. I remember it because they also had some old radio shack computers that only ran in black and white, or was it green text. I dont remember.
funny working for the DEA during the breaking bad show times. mid 2000s... everyone was rooting for walter and the the jessie character.

anyway, dont do drugs mkay.

Depends on how important you are as a target. The feds aren't going to waste months trying to crack open your gay diaper fur folder. They'll give up and just charge you with obstructing without violence. If they actually want in, they most likely can and will get in.
