Post your eighties childhood memories.
>>527958415
>>527958415Well I remember playing a thing that had like a 1000 2d games on my cousins computer in my childhood, there a lion roar and logo whenever you launch that application and it had games like mixing snail on your boss's coffee climbing towers and other games, it was very fun if only I knew what it was.

>>527960504:) Mine, from back then, is still working. But it's a black one, never saw whites versions in the stores when I was a kid.
>>527961662same here now you mention it. i remember liking the bomb falling sounds a lot.

>>527958499>>527960456>1985 consolesthis ones from 82, my first game was Donkey Kong
>>527962024lol, think id do the same these days. seem to remember that the machine gun sound was quite useful in various situations too. >>527962027that looks good. hey, did you ever see that doc they made about the guys contesting for the worlds highest donkey kong score? was interesting and kind of funny. you might enjoy it
>>527962179i do recall watching some documentaries on DK years agonot sure if it was related to that but i'll check out
My grandkids were getting married left and right by the time 80s rolled around
>>527963458its good to start having kids when you're 15 for this exact reason
>>527958950your anime is shit

>>527958759So that's why I hated that movie as a kid. I wasn't afraid of other movies but something about that movie just rubbed me the wrong way like I shouldn't be watching it. It's a cursed film and curses those who watch it. Intentionally so.
>>527958649never liked those movies. didn't watch them. same with nightmare on elm street.

We used to wear bright colors, before the GAAAAAYYYYS ruined colors for everybody.

>>527958499Oh, I see you have the orange gun and the combined Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cartridge. Sorry you came late to the party, poor person.
>>527963691You mean gold shit
>>527958415You can tell a lot of anons have forgotten their childhoods. The 80s were prime satanic rituals and child sacrifices. If you don't remember is because your brain made you forget and the only thing it fixated on was the toys and media you consumed.
>>527967310yeah it was. all kinds of stuff posted on it. back then i was just amazed it could come through the TV signal (analog)
>>527964815holy hell I forgot about that. There was a photon arena on the boardwalk in OC MD. Fun times.
>>527968298what was the game? never saw that
>>527965848I could beat it on every route without so much as a bump or slowdown. I got scores that seemed so impossibly high for the normies they would accuse me of cheating. >>527958415I was alive in the 80s but I don't remember this at all. I remember watching the Transformers 1986 Movie, either in theaters or on VHS

>>527958415Your memories are lies.
>>527958415Bit of a distraction is this thread, but a good one none the less.
>>527970872I was a Timex Sinclair guy when I was 12. I even had the 16K RAM pack like this bad-boy has. ColecoVision had a PC called "Adam". I had a ColecoVision but not the Adam.
>>527971114Before you guys came along we had this.
>>527971683>the 16K RAM packbad ass
>>527971683>>527971804I had a friend who had a Timex Sinclair and he loaned it to me. I wrote a program that put targets on the screen and you could move an arrow around to "pick them up" to get a score. That all I could manage with 1K RAM lol. I saved and bought a Colecovision but I never got an Adam. I was a regular Weekly World News reader in elementary school which I'm sure had some effect on my psychological formation...
>>527971683We had some homegrown systems like the ABC80 and the Compis but those were limited to schools and I can't remember if you could hook them up to a TV of the age (no RF modulator). A coordinated effort between the manufacturers, Ericsson, Luxor and a couple of others could have spawned an esoteric quasi PC like the jap ones, and it would have disappeared in the mid 90s.The ABC80 did teach people to write BASIC which paved the way for Commodore's machines.
>>527971391Those cards and these guys were the de facto trading currency of my middle school.

>>527958415I was child (Gen X, French). I remember the great 80s:>Disney movies torturing kids, with parent consent. It was their duty to force Disney on crying kids.>Hitler is Satan, Videogames is Satan, Asia is Satan, Future is Satan, Anime is Satan... (not even from religious family, it was national)>Holocaust at TV, Holocaust at dinner, Holocaust at street, Holocaust at grocery, Holocaust at school...>Every year, watching a 9-10 hours-length movie about fog: SHOAH (holocaust)>strange giant golf balls everywhere (ECHELON): strangely I was the only one to noticing. Some adults I talked about disappear. Others stopped talking to me (very angry).>first candies at dentist. Free and nasty.>School was mostly about Holocaust, Condoms (AIDS) and future unemployment. >>527973682People try and talk up Gen X as based, but I swear it was the start of the degenerate shit we see everywhere today.
>>527958415I don’t remember the 80’s, I was a tiny kid. I think my earliest memories I can recall are from 1990. I think I might remember some snippets from 89 though. Someone go back in time and tell my dad not to get that comp and dial up, there’s no future for White men in this shit.
>>527972892i had that. must be a bong thingt.bong
>>527973861They had very little choice in it retard. It was the jews and CIA who started the degeneracy stuff with the hippy movement in the 60’s to counter the anti-war movement.
>>527973861Hardly.They got more pussy than most dudes, feminine men still do LMAO
>>527974019> feminine men still do LMAOThey were rockstar wealthy performers who did lots of drugs and partied. Being a feminine man won’t get you laid, what an incredibly retarded statement.
>>527973861MTV was really trying to push degeneracy through hair metal and slut pop but the former didn't really work out for them: the kids didn't even adopt the look (most they'd do was an earring and the band's T-shirt).Rap was much more effective in that regard.
>>527958415heres one. flash gordon movie. my old man and I watched it in the cinema and had a blast. then we walked out and went into a record store where he handed me some cash and told me buy the sound track album. first ever vinyl purchase https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tehvcmYYTDs&list=PLxtWNyAmvGhMMXoM7RJSB74awLu_7_VKs

>>527958415I miss the security of a stable Western world.
>>527974656When the cathode ray reaches the bottom of the screen it has to rewind back to the top. During that time no video is sent so teletext data is sent instead. It's a funny quirk of PAL and required a semi-modern TV set. You tell the TV you want page XXX and then it waits for that image to be transmitted. If it doesn't exist your TV will wait forever.
>>527976313Interesting. I remember watching an old-school PAL tv while I was over there. I don't know how the hell all of you survived the eye strain that came from 25 fps
>>527974656it was pretty cool for all the reasons this knowledgeable anon >>527976313 was saying. not all TVs could do it. i remember going to relative houses and thinking that the game were amazing lol>>527974840HERE WE ARE
>>527976499I never noticed but a music nerd friend couldn't stand movies being sped up. Blame the krauts for it, they decided 50Hz was a good idea as it was easy to work with the decimal system. Of course this is during the time a lot of shit was hand-wired, later on one of our turboautists designed oval gears for use when wiring transformers and relays. But it was made obsolete by transistors and integrated circuits. This hand wiring is why our and the kraut railroads use 16 2/3Hz electricity. Also eroge was better.

>>527979450I think most kids saw it. It was this big campaign to see the first teacher go to space, so like every school showed the launch live on TV.
>>527979792Oh that’s why, always though it was crazy the first one they mass showed in school went kablammo , its was the teachers fault trying to show off how cool their fellow teacher was. I hate teachers
People had no idea how advanced a technology they brought into their homes with one of these. The later SuperBeta technology improved video quality, but it was the audio that was truly phenomenal on the HiFi models..

>>527958415I was in 5th grade music class when this happened. All classes watched because Christa was onboard. Teacher freaked out for a bit then said "do you think anyone survived" before turning the TV off. I remember collecting newspaper clippings in a scrapbook and all the jokes going around school like "Need Another Seven Astronauts", "Now Accepting Seven Applications", and Christa's eye color being "Blue...one blew this way, one blew that way".

>>527981407dumb fkn zoomers make it like nothing was expensive in the 80sand betamax was hands down better quality than VHS, VHS just beat them in the marketing game
>>527977945The US forced them to make it orange after some retard tired to rob someplace with it I remember it in the news at the time.
>>527959553I remember walking out the door with some friends and someone was like holy shit OJ is in a bronco running from the copsAnd we stood there and watched for like a minute and just turned it off and walked out the door to go to a partyI used to have a life
>>527973682More like Heroin bands
>>527967667this
>>527980257Those FBI warnings always seemed do serious. I chuckle thinking how the Kikes convinced the US government to go after people for copying movies on VHS.
>>527981492Beta was better, VHS had longer tapes. Couldn't fit a movie on a beta tape.Compare and contrast to decades later, HD-DVD was cheaper and had been a drop-in replacement of DVD. But we got Bluray.
https://youtube.com/shorts/TCGUMr6CBaA
I remember it was the heavy metal mania and listening to slayer, voivod, death angel, exodus, suicidal tendencies, anthrax, SOD, death etc.I could listen to metallicunt but somehow it just didn't click with me all the time.I do remember driving my dad's truck to a bigger city to see bands play in little shitty venues. I saw metallica and slayer in this bar stage place not quite as big as a basketball court and getting drunk.I was turned on darkwave music by a beautiful goth chick and it was so much better than anything I'd ever heard before.I was a stupid guy for caring what others thought about me.
>>527981796Oh, we didn't consider it copying. I would bring my VHS machine to a friend's house where he had a SL-5000 Betamax. We'd go to Tower and he'd rent whatever he wanted to add to his collection in VHS format, and I'd do the same only in Beta format. We were simply using one VCR to show the movie to the other VCR.
>>527981796What cracks me up is that they're using to this very day a warning that they were using forty years ago - about how copying copyrighted material was an agenda item at some Interpol meeting in 1977, which indicates that the issue was likelier about recording phonograph records onto 8-track tapes.
>>527958649>>527958759what movie ?
>>527982761Poltergeist
>>527976313One final thing is that if you had a shitty reception then the picture would get corrupted in a VLC way. The picture could get better if you waited for the next transmission, but not always.Teletext was sometimes ued for optional closed captioning, the background is normally black but could be made transparent. One page had subtitles for some programs.Subtitles is handled in DTV but modern TV sets forget you enabled text and it randomly drops off. I don't watch TV as I no longer know how to operate them.

>>527982260I used to distribute porn for free to my friends in high school. We had this scheme, where my dad had paid for the full satellite package with access to porn channels but the porn started at 10pm Moroccan time, so we usually were asked to go sleep at time, so we taped with black tape the lights of the VHS video recorder and programmed it to launch “record” at a time over 10pm when the porn starts and we are already in bed, my bed would watch the porn channel almost every night before going to bed or pass out in front of the tv on the porn channel. Every morning we would “harvest” what was recorded on the VHS, making us a huge pile of porn VHS to be watched and liquidated kek. I was well known all through high school because of this.

>>527985245Just understanding how to time shift on a VCR put you in the 90th percentile back then. It's probably 99 today. The digital display on mine was fuck-all bright. I didn't mask it, but did put some transparent red film so it wouldn't light up the entire bedroom at night.
>>527985370Kek. >>527985403One time, one of my friends got busted with the VHS cassette I supplied him, then, the thing is when his dad looked at it, he saw a Lesbian scene! The dude went crazy, told the friend “where you got this from?” “I swear if I see male to male shit Im gonna kill you”. So my friend broke up and told him it was from me, mind you this was before cell phones so I had no clue of the bust, it was a Sunday, my door rings, I see my friend at the door with a “take this bad shit you gave me look” and his dad on the car looking at me as if I was satan incarnate. Then the friend left with his dad with no words from him at the moment. I will never forget these moments kek.
>>527967589Fuck women, dude.
>>527985663>but did put some transparent red film so it wouldn't light up the entire bedroom at nighGood work bro. >Just understanding how to time shift on a VCR put you in the 90th percentile back then.It was me and my brother conspiring together to get the mission to succeed it did take us weeks to figure out the time shift indeed!
The 1980s had TV shows that had a car chase in every episode.
>>527966865I liked the math one better. Going to relive my fucked up childhood on youtube. Epstine claims he made all his money from being one of the first people with a Texas instruments scientific calculator, kek
>>527985594Lost in this is the local broadcasts that followed in every major market. That was some mega-cringe shit. Two hours local news reporters showing NPCs in hysterics about dying in a nuclear war. Twice. Remember the network broadcast this movie on consecutive nights. It played into an emerging perspective of mine that I was just beginning to understand and would serve me well in life - essentially that I could very accurately evaluate the the value, importance and fulfillment potential of any interest, perspective or opinion I considered simply by looking at the company I was keeping.

Being pulled into the locker room during art class at James Madison Junior High by pic related and she smoked my cock, even swallowing my nut. I still have dreams about it. First wad I ever blew.
>>527985245>we taped with black tape the lights of the VHS video recorder and programmed it to launch “record” at a time over 10pmI used the exact same strategy. On our setup the cable converter box also needed to be on so its display needed to be blacked out as well. The wrinkle was when Dad would try to watch the same thing and find the controls unresponsive. The solution was to only record very late at night and to sneak down and turn on the converter box after making sure everyone was asleep. Never got caught.
>>527985761Kek. Even if you could figure out time-shifting to a master level, it was still a pain in the ass every single time. For openers, VCRs were often kept on lower shelves below the TV and you had to crouch down onto your knees. It was very unforgiving too. Any error you made would likely screw it up.You could buy one of these to help out, but it didn't sell that well because if you couldn't figure out how to time shift using the VCR controls, it would be a struggle to figure out this device too.
>>527966567all of them except famine (Ethiopia) but we were so poor we would run out of food and electricity, You had to put 50p pieces in the meter. I think Cherynobyl drift is why my sister has so many weird thyroid problems. I didn't get AIDS by my mate got into heroin and got HIV. Mad cow disease made it so I couldn't donate blood in US until recently. The 80s were shit. You would not be able to handle it for a second, you were raised in a hyper-reality adn dont know any different. Four TV channels. Didn't see it in the jewspaper or talmudvision? You don't know about it.
>>527986434>you had to crouch down onto your kneesSomething you were used to anyway.
>>527958415I met Dr (LtC) Michael Aquino in 1986 at a friends party in which later I would come to realize this dude fucked kids and his church had children secretly which they ate in sacrifices at Spirit Cooks. Lots of other nuggets of information popped up which it's an absolute fact America is not ran by "Jews" but ran by Sadistic fucking people of all Race, Gender, Creed and Religion who are a pack of wolves. And the world is just becoming more degenerate. Part of me felt bad it seemed to be happening with America only but in the last decade or so it's clear it's spread to all of the Western nations on this Planet. even Islamic nations are starting to accept Homosexuality and Transgenderism. we're fucked. I never had anything against Gays growing up but it's beyond that. It's total devastation of all things Good. Total Moral Decay
>>527986296> and to sneak down and turn on the converter box after making sure everyone was asleep. Never got caught.Based ninja-mission enthusiast. Us too we were never caught. I would like to thank Japan for good JVC vhs recorders without them none of this would be possible. Kek
>>527986102I used to record episodes of Top Cat on a local station while I was in school. Success 'n' Life (Tilton's show) followed so I'd catch the first couple of minutes of it. It kind of got me hooked and I started recording and watching entire episodes. Tilton was pure comedy. His show was actually broadcast for several years on BET of all networks.

When I was a kid in the 80s, if you wanted to go on /pol/, the only way to do it was through Ceefax on TV. The tech worked because some of the lines used to make up the tv picture could be used to send information about text, so it was possible to broadcast text images. There were bunches of pages about the weather, news, TV shows, but in our house it was always on the /pol/ page. It took fucking ages to type in text for a thread. There wasn't a keyboard, just the TV remote, with the numbers, but it felt like magic.
>>527986527>Hyuck! It's funny cuz any time anyone mentions 1980, TV, VCR or waffles, all I can think about is sucking cock.

My biggest Joy in the 1980s (early to mid) was watching Night Flights on Friday and Saturday evening as a ritual. Bob Dobbs Church of SubGenius, Pee Wee Herman show before it became a kids show (a bit adult in humor), a clever edited video of Ronald and Nancy Reagan endorsing drug use, Post Punk Music videos and bands like The Residents", Super oddity shit, snippets of "Freaks" and other old silent era of pre censorship 1935 (lots of old B&W movies with full body nudity)ran on USA network.

>>527986630Damn I remember Don Gato (we called it that way), he had his cat friend Demostenes who sluttered, not sure what his original names was in english but right there you knew people at entertainment industry and animation knew the classics, to make a reference to a classic athens politician, that level of historical knowledge can't be expected from the people in charge nowadays, neither the workforce.
>>527986434Our VHS recorder came with a timer embedded, you just needed to figure out how to set it up. Exactly like pic rel. you just needed to make a fine cut of black tape not too fat super thin covering the lights that goes when prompting a record. A flashy red light and a green light for play, once that was done and then it was set.

>>527986749Well mate the game was rigged from the starts, the alternative was a literal jeet niggeress pushing for DEI and faggotry, either way we all were fucked.
>>527968119That was a fake and gay Satanic panic over nothing. It was shoved in boomers' faces because they're gullible NPC's who believe anything that the mainstream media tell them. Back then, they had both Democrats and Republicans attacking the Simpsons as if it was evil and satanic as well. They even came up with that gay tv ratings systemhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eEuhaQsPiE

>>527987790The Top Cat character was a parody of the Sergeant Bilko character in The Phil Silvers show. Voice, demeanor, leadership role and the constant running of scams.Yeah, nobody gets those references anymore. Cartoons of the postwar / cold-war era were often made for adults as much as for children and the viewer was assumed to have a certain level of education and sophistication.

ok let's try not to do these nostalgia threads without some kind of /pol/ spin baked in, a little bias, a spot of english if you were as it will, because without that it's just blatant time wasting and data mining

It really set a tone for that moment that was decidedly different from 99% of my day-to-day life.I could see that if you were in a coastal maritime community that would be useful information to broadcast at that time.
