Contrast that with commercial landlords who do the volume that they can afford constant renovations and floating some vacancies when they raise rent every year.
My landlady is amazing. She never raises my rent, never bothers. Even has bought me dinner a few times and gave me cleaning supplies and an extra storage shed because I was having trouble keeping my place tidy. We have more like a grandson grandma relationship than anything else. I did in fact look at a lot of other places to rent and having a nice landlord and neighbors is one of the most important things to look for. I'm not some desperate low income nigger that has to settle for anywhere with cheap rent though. I took a year finding my new place and did indeed ask the other tenants how she was first. People who settle for bad places to live make me sad.
