Why are sobriety checks so sparse throughout the US? I have never seen one since 2008 when I received my drivers license
And I have drove throughout many states.

Why don’t police utilize these more? I always hear stories of how lucky people who drink frequently get lucky for not getting pulled over are.

If drunk driving is such a crisis in this country than the police need to focus on intoxicated drivers and the signs of impairment.

Sobriety Checks could help a lot.

because every time they just ended up arresting people who didn’t think they had to show their license and with google maps you can just avoid the stop anyway

>what is probable cause?

>what is base rate fallacy?

I live in Chicagoland area.

Tomorrow for sure they will exist for the Super Bowl.

They also have them on nights like New Year eve and other major holidays.

Thing is that they need to announce were and when the checks will be held.

No random roadblock checks allowed.

Read the local news outlets to avoid.

Why is drunk driving illegal anyway? Just prosecute them if they do something bad. It's a victimless crime until they hit someone and hitting someone is illegal anyway.

They are regulated to the nth degree.
For instance, you have to make sure that a person can see it and have a place to turn off before getting to it, so that it may be entirely avoided if desired.

There's more, but that's the big one.
It's expensive and involves alot of manpower.
TN usually only happens when the state is footing the bill.
Highway patrol can set them up under a bit looser guidelines, but local agencies cannot. They even have to place ads in the paper before it happens.

TN will probably have to legalize drunk driving after the THP's royal screw up that has been going on the last few years.

They are about to be fighting MULTIPLE class action lawsuits for arresting clinically sober (with blood tests) people for DUI just because they didn't pass field sobriety test.

I'm ARIDE certified, and I know that there is a multitude of physical and mental problems that could cause that.
Basically, the THP has a 2-stop per hour 'suggestion' that is totally not a quota.

Instead of getting ride of that for the DUI task force, they left it.
Now, it is biting them in the ass.
