Imagine the cultural capital we'll gain with Latin America. We'd have the most badass island in the whole region as a state, not a territory.

Puerto Ricans can already freely move to the mainland so that's not a consideration. Making it a state will let them restructure their debt and fix their economy and make less want to leave.

It would literally be like adding another NY or California or Texas in terms of cultural capital.
