why do people in urban areas of the US live longer than people in rural areas? this is a difference in life expectancy comparable to living say in Iran.
in the UK the difference is in the other direction in the peasants' favor.
I'm not sure about my godforsaken country or if anybody's keeping track.

Because old people give up high-maintenance rural/suburban housing and move to managed apartments in population centers where hospitals etc. are also more accesssible. Then they die there.

Heart attacks and strokes account for about half of all deaths. When you have one, every second matters. An ambulance getting to your house in 3 minutes versus 13 minutes could be the difference between surviving and death. Also of note, people in cities tend to walk more than the suburbs. Even walking a quarter mile a day could be the difference between grandma having her heart attack at 76 and having it at 78. The combination of those two things results in cities having a slightly longer life expectancy.

Bill Cliton passed nafta and all the factories left and the local hospital closed down shortly after. Basically, if the medical helicopter cant fly for some reason like weather, and you have an accident or somwthing, you die.
