why do people in urban areas of the US live longer than people in rural areas? this is a difference in life expectancy comparable to living say in Iran.in the UK the difference is in the other direction in the peasants' favor.I'm not sure about my godforsaken country or if anybody's keeping track.

An ambulance getting to your house in 3 minutes versus 13 minutes could be the difference between surviving and death. Also of note, people in cities tend to walk more than the suburbs. Even walking a quarter mile a day could be the difference between grandma having her heart attack at 76 and having it at 78. The combination of those two things results in cities having a slightly longer life expectancy.
