i cant work on my truck because im in condos with a detached garage so there isnt enough space. this is fine because my mechanic is a trusted friend and its all business write offs. i fix everything inside the house that im reasonably able to. light switches, outlets, plumbing etc. i installed my own appliances and toilets. i couldve installed my own HVAC but manufacturers require professional install for the 10 year warranties so i had to pay the guys with the license to do it

Kentucky anon here.

I was into hondas in the early 00s. Did a few motor swaps. Had to deal with the wiring and all that.

A couple years ago my F150s main wiring harness was burned nearly in half on a heat pipe off of the exhaust manifold, it was causing nearly everything to go wrong.

I ended up pulling the passenger wheel and well and rewiring the entire harness. 23 wires. I've basically done everything over the years short of rebuilding an engine and tranny. My dad was a transmission builder by trade, that shit is an art form.

Don't really get into wrenching like i used to but i do still do all my own maintenance and fix shit when it breaks. I've never thought about taking my shit to the shop, why? I can do it.

By the time i get too old to work on cars they wont break down much at all. I'll prolly buy a new EV at 65 and that will be it lol. I hate that im not into cars anymore but desu there isnt much to get excited about.
>>
>>528036245
>fix your own shit
I maintain my own shit, and keep up on stuff because I like driving a nice mechanically sound vehicle
The downside of this is i also get roped in to fixing other people's shit who don't keep up on preventive maintenance until they call me when something breaks. Fact is, not as many people are able to fix things anymore, so guys like us are in high demand.
>but I'm not the salvation army, you're gonna pay for my time assholes

>>528036245

Hi bro. It shall need wrenching forever
>>
>>528036245
the most i ever did was change my rotors and brakes, and even that felt like a waste of time. changing your own oil just asking for problems. most mechanics are cheap and quick with basic maintenance because they want the easy business.

I personally like to maintenance my gaming PC. Recabling, updating drivers, optimizing, etc.

>>528036245
I fix what I can, and try to fix things I'm pretty confident I can fix. I even fixed things like ipods for other people for a while.

I also have a Prius.

You have no idea how much i hate niggers.
>>
>>528037631
well, just so long as you're enjoying yourself. my exhaust rusted out (again) but its too cold to work outside. i drive around making a noise at the moment and simply dont care
>>
>>528037871
driving around with your head out the window screaming has nothing to do with your exhaust anon

It takes less time to change your oil then it does to call a mechanic, ask if they're available, drive there, wait or leave and come back again, pay and drive home then it is to just do yourself. You can quality clean every aspect you come in contact with too and have better piece of mind. I mean you should be looking for leaks and nails in your tires during gas fill ups. Real men have multimeters in their center console to check battery health. Without internet can you even tell me what your resting battery voltage should be? If you're car didn't start you'd probably freak out and call a tow truck

If car makers were real men, they'd design cars that didn't need exotic and proprietary tools to fix them. Speedometer not working should not require a new dashboard.
>>
>>528036337
Just watch it on YouTube and copy what you see. I can't even ride a bike but I can fix most cars (some brands are too much of a pain in the ass but most of the common ones are simple).
