maybe because those conflicts were of a much smaller scale, russian military doctrine is much different than the western one, they literally have no respect for lives of individual soldiers, or the fellow russians. you can see it in any hostage situation, western countries usually pretend to negotiate with terrorists to buy time and make a plan to off terrorists. every time there is hostage situation russians just kill everyone, terrorists and hostages, they simply don't give a fucksame with ukraine, they send 2-5 person squads deep into ukraine territory to bypass fortifications and cause chaos and sabotage from behind, or send wave after wave into the meatgrinder (btw Ukraine does it too, it's bizzare) you wouldn't see such tactics in the west, mainly because modern western militaries wouldn't ever allow a standstill to occur where such tactics are needed or even required to advancesame with chechenya, during siege of grozny russians just sent waves of soldiers deep into the city, they didn't even give them specific orders or give them maps, just to advance into grozny, most of russians usually got lost in the streets, tanks got stuck etc. that's why they had to prety much level the entire city, like they are doing now in ukrainesure some will say it shows how subhuman russians are but to me it's truly fascinating, do they value their lives less? do they simply not give a shit about dying because most of their lives were misery, only happy when they got drunk?
