Take control of that and you bankrupt the country almost immediately. Blockade and occupy Abadan to cut off almost all the rest. Navy must control Straits of Hormuz. Blockade (and occupy if needed) coastal cities. DO NOT PUSH INLAND. Use carrier-based aircraft and seized airfields to carry out air attacks against all oil and gas infrastructure, plus power infrastructure. If you want to invade for real, you have to do all that stuff first. Establish total air superiority over weeks by destroying all known anti-air defenses. Then you'll need at least a million men, lots of armor, and time. Take major population centers to secure seats of government and critical infrastructure. You would rely on the various ethnic minorities and disaffected Persians to at least stay out of the way. Defeating the IRGC in the field may not be too difficult, but occupation will likely lead to widespread insurgency. You likely have to partition the country along religious and ethnic lines while installing as many puppet governments as you can, hoping they all just end up fighting each other while your occupation force turns into "peacekeepers" like they did in the former Yugoslavia. Over time you just have to ensure these new governments last, new generations lose the animosity, and life goes on. This is probably a best case scenario by the way.
