In the same way that you can swim across a river full of row boats but not one full of motorboats. The cars are simply too big, fast, and dangerous to share the road with. And because of that pedestrian street culture has disappeared from this country. And that represents a breakdown in society itself.The original roads that connected our society were taken over by cars. The only answer is to severely limit car usage. They can have intercity highways for car use. The only way cars can mingle with crowds in urban areas is if they travel at walking speed, so around 3 mph.Those big wide spaces in cities were for crowds. You can still see crowds in India and Japan. But even more devastated were the small towns and countryside, which are now completely devoid of human activity.
