When did you realize that placing the virtue of freedom above all other virtues is a mistake?

Fairness, justice, fortitude, temperance, diligence, humility, honesty, integrity, patience, and kindness all have been sidelined to solely pursue freedom at all costs in America.

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing anons.

It's not either/or freedom. We could have all the above, but people have been tribalized and trained not to see it as workable anymore. Most people won't admit it, but they believe that they need a corrupt piece of hardliner shit to "get things done" politically. Like Stalin was a brutal dictator, but he made the trains run on time, that kind of thing.

No anon. Virtues are like sliders in RPGs. You can only have one by lowering another. Patience and kindness can only occur by eliminating freedom and integrity.

“Freedom” is an antonym. In order to be free, you must first be in servitude/subjection to an other. It is dependent on the other’s existence. It’s not a term that can be defined by itself, but rather is dependent on pre-existing conditions and terminology. Utilizing the rhetoric of prioritizing freedom is great for socially destabilizing revolutions because of how relatively applicable the terminology is. As soon as “freedom” from the other is achieved, new servitudes can be set for the “liberated” populace, and since the goal of attaining freedom has already been obtained then the people will not even see their new chains as such. In practice the usage is particularly Orwellian as it seeks to control language and thoughts rather than define morality.

I've seen what too much freedom can do. Sexual freedom in particular. The Fash were right. We're in our Weimar Era.
