Anyone can buy an ad and some spend money just to demoralize or to try and make those they dislike look bad.

There was a guy buying ads just to be anti-crypto a few years back after getting burned by crypto.
Not everyone really cares about making money with the ads.

The ads are as low as 5 cents per 1,000 views my current ad says.
You could spend $1,000 to have people see anything you wanted all weekend.

A Soros type could buy a gay dildo ad his political opponents must always see.
Or the most degenerate thing they think will discourage participation or make visiting or citing the site look bad.

You give ads too much credit of really targeting the user base.
