So does ANYONE have working air defense systems? Iranian/Russian/Chinese systems are obviously junk, but the US/Israeli systems over Israel are also hot garbage. What's the solution here? Does laser interception actually work in the field, or is that a meme?

Saturation attacks are always effective and it's always cost prohibitive to make a missile that shoots down another missile simply because it's easy to make a missile that hits the ground and really difficult to make a missile that hits another missile mid air. The primary point of defense is optics (which is why you see so much spam about X countrys defenses not working) and defending yourself against vastly inferior enemy like how israels system kinda works against the bottle rockets of hamas because they can afford to spend hundred or thousand times more money to shoot one down because USA is footing the bill.
