My parents will not believe anything if they do not hear it from an official news channel. Their preferred channel is fox but it doesn’t seem to matter because If I share anything with them that is going around they question if ____ news channel has verified it yet. Its infuriating and makes me realize how stupid the people who raised me really are. Has anyone else experienced this?

It's definitely a throwback to the olden days.Used to be, when a news agency reported something, even if it had spin, you could at least rest assured that the facts - names, dates, actions - had been confirmed to be true. Even if the information was twisted and presented in such a way as to serve an agenda (Nixon, anyone?), you could still pluck the facts out and come to your own conclusion, verify it from another source, or whatever.News isn't about that any more. It's all about who gets the story out first. Whether it's true or not isn't even a secondary consideration, since they can always issue a correction or update at some later point.Throw into that a whole host of bad actors, ranging from tranny malcontents to coordinated disinfo operations funded by foreign states, and you get what we have now - a race to put out competing narratives and then to keep repeating the lies over and over until irrefutably disproven (sometimes even well past that; see the "Trump rapes kids" and "China #1" pushes), everything you see, hear, and read is cast in some shadow of doubt.Everything's a lie. Everything's a scam. Unless you're there, in person, witnessing the events in question, there's no good way to know what's real and what's not.Just look at this board on any given day.
